Nonprofit benefit scheduled for May

The North Marin Community Services nonprofit organization is planning its third annual “Brunch, Bubbles and Bocce” fundraiser on May 17.

The event is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Margaret Todd Senior Center at 1560 Hill Road. The benefit will include live music and auctions.

Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased by May 1 at northmarincs.org.

Project on lagoon approved by board

The Planning Commission has approved a home construction project at 51 Peninsula Road.

The owners want to demolish the 4,282-square-foot residence that was built in 1955 and construct a 2,748-square-foot replacement, according to the city planning office.

The project requires a variance for a setback encroachment in the rear yard. It also requires a revocable license for a new driveway, walkway and landscaping in the public right of way.

The commission held a hearing on the proposal at its meeting on Tuesday.

City clears project to elevate residence

The city planning office has approved a proposal to raise the residence at 311 Belle Ave.

The property owner wants to fortify the home’s foundation, according to his application. The project would elevate the house 3 feet and 9 inches.

A deputy zoning administrator cleared the plan after a hearing on Wednesday. The appeal period is five business days.

Applicants named to municipal boards

The City Council has appointed six residents to terms on advisory boards.

The appointments include Stephanie Carullo and Beth Swierk for the Parks and Recreation Commission; Wayne Bonnett for the Historic Preservation Commission; and Eric Liddle for the Disaster Preparedness Committee. For the Sustainability Commission, Alexander Shoer was named a member and Samantha Shubert an alternate.

The council made the selections at it meeting on Tuesday. The terms are for three years.
