Hinsdale police charge man who approached 10-year-old
A Dolton man has been charged with aggravated resisting arrest after Hinsdale police took him into custody Monday to question him about a suspicious incident.
Jason Klostermann, 41, of the 500 block of East 144th Street, is being held in DuPage County Jail, said Hinsdale director of public safety Bradley Bloom.
A woman called 911 at about 4:30 p.m. Monday about a man behaving suspiciously.
According to police officials, the man stopped a 10-year-old boy who was walking his dog at Justina Street and Ravine Road and asked for directions to the train station. The boy told him directions, but then the man asked the boy to walk with him and show him where the station is, Bloom said.
They had walked about 2 1/2 blocks together when a woman who lived in the neighborhood recognized the boy and called him over to her near Walnut and Philippa streets, Bloom said. The boy told the woman why he was walking with the man. She was suspicious and called 911, while the man walked away, Bloom said.
Officers responded and found the man walking on Oak Street Bridge.
He struggled with the officers, who were scraped and scratched as they took him into custody, Bloom said.
The police are still investigating how long the man has been in the area and whether there will be any additional charges. They have not found a car in the area that belonged to the man, Bloom said.
The boy was not harmed, but police are reminding parents to talk with their children and tell them never to speak with strangers, walk with a stranger or get in a stranger's car.
