First-degree murder charges were filed in connection with the shooting of a Riverdale man and Crown Point woman in Markham earlier this month, according to court records.
Terrell Fox, of the 3700 block of 167th Place, Country Club Hills, was charged with two counts of murder for the deaths of Jamari Stigler, 23, of Riverdale, and Diamond Taylor Harvey, 27, of Crown Point, court records show.
After his arrest, prosecutors said Fox confessed to shooting Stigler and Harvey and throwing the gun into a field.
Fox was on parole after serving part of an eight-year sentence for aggravated discharge of a firearm in 2017, prosecutors said.
Police were notified of a suspicious vehicle at 11:38 a.m. on March 2, with an occupant slumped over and appearing to have injuries, prosecutors said.
When officers arrived, they found the driver’s window shattered, prosecutors said. One of the victims was found in the driver’s seat with two gunshot wounds — one to the neck and the other to the face, they said.
The vehicle was still in drive and the victim’s foot was actively pushing on the brake, prosecutors said. The other victim was found in the front passenger seat with multiple gunshot wounds to the back of the head, prosecutors said.
Both victims were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where they were pronounced dead, prosecutors said.
Officers found five 40 caliber shell casings in the vehicle along with a baby bottle with suspected lean, prosecutors said. Lean is a term used to refer to a recreational drug mixture, also known as “purple drank,” “sizzurp,” according to the National Institutes of Health.
No weapons were found in the car, prosecutors said.
Surveillance footage from Heniff Trucking, across the street from the shooting at 3300 W. 167th St., along with a dashcam from a semi-truck, captured Fox running from the rear passenger seat of one of the victim’s cars, a Hyundai Elantra, at 11:28 a.m., prosecutors said.
Officers also found text messages between Fox and the victims outlining their plan to meet so Fox could buy lean, prosecutors said.
Fox then called his mother several times, and footage shows him exiting a field and entering her car at 11:35 a.m., prosecutors said.
Fox was ordered detained March 7 at the Cook County Courthouse in Markham, according to court records.
