


Sophomore Emma Burgueno had three hits, three RBI, and scored twice, and Aptos High’s softball team beat Harbor 16-2 in the teams’ Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League four-inning game Monday.
Six of the Mariners’ 12 hits went for extra bases.
Sophomore Kalina Healy had two hits, two RBI, and scored twice for the Mariners (11-5, 7-2). Sophomore Izzy Baker had one hit, two walks, two RBI, and scored three runs, and classmate Jordan Zimmer had one hit, two walks, two RBI, and scored twice.
On Tuesday at 4:30 p.m., Aptos plays at Santa Cruz, while Harbor (1-11, 0-9) hosts Soquel.
At Pajaro Valley 19, Santa Catalina 4; 5 inn. >> The Grizzlies had five hits, drew 15 walks, and stole 11 bases in their Pacific Coast Athletic League Cypress Division win Monday.
Seniors Angie Torres and Elena Barron each had two hits, two RBI, and two runs scored for the Grizzlies. Virginia Escobar had a hit, one RBI, and scored three runs. Olivia Contreras, Jaqueline Alvarez Zavala, and Zaria Cadenas Carrillo each drove in a run, and scored twice. Hemeria Delatorre also scored twice.
Delatorre struck out out seven batters, walked two, and gave up five hits in her complete-game win.
Pajaro Valley (6-8, 4-3) plays at Greenfield (7-11, 5-0) on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
At Salinas 15, Watsonville 5, 6 inn. >> Freshman Audrina Rodriguez drove in a pair of runs in the Wildcatz’s PCAL Gabilan Division loss Monday.
Mia Espinoza had a hit, one RBI, and a run scored for the Wildcatz (11-9, 1-6). Bella Ruiz had a hit and one RBI, and Layla Romero and Jillian Lerma each had a hit and run scored. Amelia Martinez had one RBI and a run scored.
Gigi Rossi had two hits, four RBI, three stolen bases, and scored three runs for the Cowboys (12-6, 6-1). Ava Thompson had two hits, including a home run, and two RBI.
Bella Machuca earned the complete-game win, and Martinez took the loss.
Watsonville plays at division leading Monterey (14-3-1, 6-0) on Friday at 4 p.m.
High school football
Sorensen commits >> Monte Vista Christian School senior linebacker Gunner Sorensen (6-0, 210 pounds) has committed to play for NCAA Division III California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.
Sorensen scored two touchdowns on offense, and recorded a team-high 95 tackles on defense for the Mustangs (5-5, 3-3), the fourth-place finisher in the PCAL Mission North Division.
The Kingsmen (2-8) went 2-6 in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference under coach Anthony Lugo in the fall.
Girls lacrosse
Soquel 13, at Notre Dame 3 >> Senior attacker Reilly Kerko had two goals, one assist, and two forced turnovers in the Knights’ PCAL Mission Division win at Rabobank Stadium in Salinas on Monday.
Junior midfielder Ayla Hymes and sophomore attacker Ashby Weeks each scored twice for the Knights.
Junior attacker Sophie Arnold, and freshmen Addison Amsden, Kassidy Seibert, Mila Estupinian, Sophia Santee, Margot Rawlings, and Gianna Williams each scored one goal for Soquel.
Freshman goalie Gianna Williams made one save in the first half, and senior Reilly Kerko made six saves in the second half.
Soquel plays hosts Santa Cruz on May 5 at 7 p.m.
Boys lacrosse
Salinas 16, Soquel 12 >> Jed Del Favero scored five goals and Tanner Trowbridge netted four goals in the Knights’ PCAL Gabilan Division loss Monday.
Enzo Bik, Zachery Beckman-Stevens, and Wyatt Nichols each scored one goal for the Knights (4-8, 0-8).
Goalie Daniel Bjorn racked up 14 saves for the Knights, who play at Santa Cruz (2-6, 1-6) on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
At Aptos 19, Soquel 13 >> Jed Del Favero scored 10 goals for the Knights in their PCAL loss Saturday night.
Enzo Bik added two goals for the Knights, and Zachery Beckman-Stevens had a goal and an assist.
Goalie Daniel Bjorn made 12 saves for Soquel.
Boys volleyball
Kirby 3, Monterey Bay Academy 0 >> Freshman opposite DJ Durbin had nine kills, six digs, and three aces, and the Griffins earned a 25-21, 25-20, 25-20 sweep in PCAL Cypress Division action on Monday.
Senior outside Will Gust had eight kills and five digs for the Griffins (7-5, 7-3), and junior outside Aden Huang had eight kills, five aces, seven digs, and two assists.
Junior setter Henry Annon had 18 assists, three kills, three digs, three blocks and three aces for Kirby. Sophomore libero Banyan Revell made nine digs.
Kirby plays Pajaro Valley on Tuesday and Oakwood on Thursday to finish out the season.
