The Taco Bell in Milford will be open longer on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays after the village council approved the request.

Since 2015, this Taco Bell has been open until 2 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 3 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. When the drive-through restaurant opened in 1999, it’s hours were 1 a.m. Sundays through Wednesdays and until 2 a.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

The new hours allow the restaurant to remain open until 4 a.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. It’s unclear when the new schedule begins.

The restaurant, at 525 General Motors Road in the village, opened decades ago on a rezoned site with special conditions — hours of operations had to be approved by village officials.

“If they had been one parcel over, they could have just changed their hours,” said Ann Barnette, the downtown development authority’s executive director.

The Taco Bell is in a residential area, but not next to any homes, she said.

The restaurant is between a bank and Johnson Elementary School and across the street from the parking lot for Christ Lutheran Church preschool and kindergarten.

The village council approved the request with a five-to-one vote. Village President Jeffy Aubry voted no. Councilman Andy Grohowski was absent from the meeting.

Some members of council speculated that the extended hours were needed to accommodate delivery orders, but no one from the restaurant was present to answer questions.

Aubry and a company representative did not respond to messages from The Oakland Press Thursday.
