‘Awake, My Harp’ concert coming to Adventist church

Oroville Seventh-Day Adventist church will present a harp recital Feb. 25.

The concert called, “Awake, My Harp,” features the history of the harp. Beverly Wesner-Hoehn is the featured harpist.

Wesner-Hoehn was appointed assistant professor at the Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana. She taught harp, ensemble and chamber music. She also taught harp at California State University and was principal harp for the Sac Philharmonic, Modesto Symphony, Folsom Lake Symphony and the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra.

Wesner-Hoehn has played consistently for Michael W. Smith, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Celtic Woman, String of Pearls, Johnny Mathis, Lisa Vroman, and young singing star, Jackie Evancho. Wesner-Hoehn has also performed harp for the Nutcracker ballet in cities across the United States more than 300 times in the course of her career. The concert will be a lively introduction to the best of the harp world, according to a press release.

Oroville Seventh-Day Adventist church is located at 1180 Robinson St. The concert starts at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25.
