The Atlanta Braves hope to learn more about righthander Reynaldo López’s ability to return to the rotation when he has exploratory arthroscopic surgery on his inflamed right shoulder on Tuesday in Los Angeles.

López was moved to the 60-day injured list on Thursday, so he will miss at least two months.

He allowed three runs and nine hits in a loss to San Diego on March 28. He was an important part of the rotation in 2024, when he was 8-5 with a 1.99 ERA in his first year with the team.

Marte injured: All-Star second basemen Ketel Marte left the Arizona Diamondbacks’ game Friday against the Washington Nationals in the first inning after straining his left hamstring running the bases.

Marte hit a long ball to the wall in center field and, as he rounded first base and headed to second, he started to stutter-step. He pulled in slowly for a standup double while holding his left hamstring.

Marte limped off the field under the supervision of the team’s training staff.

Henderson off IL: Baltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson was back in the lineup for Friday’s game at Kansas City after missing the start of the season with a right intercostal strain.

Henderson, who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list, went 1 for 4 in an 8-2 loss.

He hit .281 with 37 home runs, 92 RBIs and 21 stolen bases in 2024, finishing fourth in American League MVP voting. He was the AL Rookie of the Year in 2023.

The 23-year-old left a Feb.
