Residence of San Jose

It is with great sadness that we share the peaceful passing of our mother, DORIS JEAN URATA on December 5, 2024, as she was surrounded by her loving family.

Doris Sunzeri was born on March 9, 1928, the daughter of VJ and Elsie Sunzeri. Except for her time at The Oaks, she lived her life inSan Jose. At the age of 18 she met and married the love of her life, Filadelfo “Jack” Urata.

They were together for an amazing 70 years.

They had three children: Donna Agresta (John), Charles “Buddy” Urata (deceased) and Cindy Eklund (Tim). Mom and Dad were blessed with four grandchildren: Matthew Agresta (Keriann), Marc Agresta (Grady), Annie Rendler (Jimmy) and Katie Polsky (Matt).

Then came six great grandchildren: Maria and Kristina Agresta, Christopher and Jackson Rendler, and Leah and Kyle Polsky.

During her 96 years, Mom lived afull life. She was adevoted member of The Mother’s Guild at Saint Patrick’s Church and School. Mom and Dad were very instrumental in the planning and completion of Presentation High School. She was also an active volunteer at Alexian Brothers Hospital. Mom loved golfing and gambling trips (with Dad) to Reno and Las Vegas and cruises to Alaska, Bahamas, Mexico and Italy. Mom was a fabulous cook who could make a meal out of almost anything. The family especially looked forward to her famous Cuccidati cookies at Christmas. She enjoyed sewing, playing her baby grand piano and spent countless hours creating her beautiful garden. Mom and Dad’s beach house in Santa Cruz was their “Happy Place”.

Mom had lived at The Oaks Assisted Living in Paso Robles for the past nine months. She was near by family and was visited frequently by extended family. Many thanks to the staff at The Oaks for their loving care during her stay.

Mom was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jack. Her funeral mass will be held at St. John Vianney Church. This beautiful church was actually built by her father VJ Sunzeri and husband Jack, a fact of which she was especially proud. We have been blessed for having Mom so long ...she will be dearly missed.
