Penguin chick born Oct. 15 finally out of ICU
The Denver Zoo’s African penguin flock is a little fluffier this week after a recently born chick was released from the intensive care unit, zoo officials said.
The chick was born Oct. 15 to Guja and Keni but had a serious respiratory disease that required around-the-clock care, according to a statement from the Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance.
Zoo officials said the chick’s recovery was “nothing short of remarkable.” — Lauren Penington, The Denver Post
Two Colorado men charged in investment scheme
Two Colorado men are suspected of defrauding dozens of investors of nearly $8 million in a foreign exchange trading scheme, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Heath Posey of Denver and Timothy McPhee of Estes Park were charged with wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering after a Denver grand jury indictment, federal officials said Wednesday.
Posey, 38, and McPhee, 63, allegedly posed as “ROI Cash Flow Fund” and convinced more than 50 people to send them money.
The pair told investors they would see a 3% monthly return, according to the indictment.
Instead, Posey and McPhee transferred the money to their own bank accounts and used the funds for personal investments and to pay off other investors, according to the indictment. — Katie Langford, The Denver Post
