River Jones and Paolo Trilli scored goals to lift Marin Academy to a 2-1 home win against rival University on Friday. The result puts the Wildcats (4-6-3, 4-1-0 BCL West) into a first-place tie with Lick-Wilmerding and two points clear of University in third.

• Marin Catholic remained unbeaten in league play this season, securing its first victory — a 3-1 win against Terra Linda on Thursday — after opening up the MCAL slate with four consecutive ties. TL (5-5-1, 3-2-0) scored first on a goal by Johan Cifuentes, assisted by Andrew Santos. MC (6-4-5, 1-0-4) equalized on a goal by Charlie Carroll, assisted by Enrique Guzman — in the first half then tacked on two more goals in the second half. Griffin Jones scored the second goal and Guzman scored the third, with assists from Connor Guerra and James Root, respectively.

• Archie Williams (6-3-3, 3-0-1) vaulted into first place following a 6-0 victory against San Marin (5-4-3, 1-2-1) on Thursday. The Peregrine Falcons sit one point above TL and two above Redwood but have a game in hand over both. Sean Chamberlin and Willy Finley scored two goals apiece while Devin Singh and Jackson Richardson each scores once. Aidan Dunn had the shutout in goal.

• Branson (4-5-4, 2-2-1) scored on a first-half penalty kick by Bode Dossey and added a second goal in the 32rd minute to secure a 2-0 road win at San Rafael (4-7-3, 1-2-1) on Thursday night. Shiloh Williams scored the second goal off an assist by Rodrigo Diaz.

College baseball

Wyatt Davis doubled and tripled to drive in two runs during College of Marin’s 7-4 home win over Diablo Valley to kick off the 2025 season. Adrian Ruiz was 3-for-5 for the Mariners (1-0), who play DVC on the road Saturday. Marcos Tolliver went three innings on the mound for the win, with one hit and three strikeouts as he faced 11 batters.

Girls basketball

Kitty White scored a big 13 points to lead Redwood High past Novato, 62-19, on Friday. White was the only player in the game to score in double figures, as the Giants took a 47-10 lead by halftime. Jaden Vangordan, Maya Saibel and Molly Gallagher scored six points each for the Giants (13-8, 5-0 MCAL).

Claire Hannan scored a team-high eight points for the Hornets (11-8, 2-2).

• San Marin broke loose with a big run in the middle of the game to beat Archie Williams, 36-16, in Friday’s home contest. The Mustangs (17-5, 3-1 MCAL) went on a 26-8 surge through the second and third quarters to stop the Peregrine Falcons (17-11, 2-2), who had won back-to-back games entering Friday’s game.

• Marin Catholic rolled to a 41-21 victory over Terra Linda on Friday night. The Wildcats (13-8, 4-1 MCAL) are scheduled to host Justin-Siena on Saturday in a non-league contest.

• Marin Academy lost to BCL West leader University, 56-37, on Thursday evening. The Wildcats (11-8, 2-3 BCL West) are scheduled to face Convent in Tuesday’s road game.

Boys basketball

A second-half push carried San Domenico to a 62-48 BCL West win against Lick-Wilmerding on Thursday. The Panthers trailed by two at halftime, but held the Tigers to just four points in the third quarter. Meanwhile, Gavin Early scored 17 in the second half en route to a 23-point night. Kris Jakstas had 12 points, including nine in the fourth quarter, and Irakli Jokhadze chipped in 11.

Women’s basketball

Alaiyah San Juan led the Penguins (13-9, 7-4 PacWest) with 12 points and five steals as Dominican University held off Fresno Pacific in Thursday’s 57-48 home win. Taylor Linzie fell just shy of a double-double scoring eight points to go with a career-high 21 rebounds.

• Redwood High grad Kylie Horstmeyer scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds in San Diego’s 72-63 loss to Saint Mary’s on Thursday. The Toreros (4-14, 0-9) are scheduled to host USF on Saturday.
