Bay FC star Racheal Kundananji is among four women’s soccer players from Zambia who have been removed from the national team ahead of upcoming international matches due to added challenges entering the US.

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) announced on Wednesday that captain Barbra Banda, Prisca Chilufya, Grace Chanda and Kundananji, all of whom play for clubs in the US, won’t travel to China for the Yangchuan International Tournament.

Travel to and from the U.S. has become more difficult under the Trump administration with reports of detentions and visas being revoked for those entering the country.

Kundananji, 24, is in her second season with Bay FC after setting the then-world record for a transfer fee of $800,000 to join the club from Madrid CFF. She became the first Zambian to play in an NWSL match and the first to score a goal when she debuted in Bay FC’s home opener 13 months ago. Banda, Chilufya and Chanda all play for the Orlando Pride.

Bay FC officials confirmed Kundananji is in the Bay Area training with the team and will not travel to China. Bay FC (1-1-1) next plays April 13 vs. Chicago Stars FC at PayPal Park.

Stanford’s Ganne regresses in Round 2 >> A day after setting the tournament record, Stanford golfer Megha Ganne shot 10 off her first-round pace Thursday and fell into a three-way tie for second place at the August National Women’s Amateur.

Ganne entered the day with a two-shot lead after shooting a 63 in the first round but bogeyed four times on her way to a 73. After two rounds, Ganne, Carla Bernat Escuder and Andre Revuelta (minus-8) were all one shot behind Lottie Woad, looking to become the first repeat champion, and Kiara Romero (minus-9), who closed with three straight birdies.

“Tried to create momentum within holes and grinded it out for what I thought was a pretty good 73,” said Ganne, who holed a 25-foot birdie putt on her final shot to get within one.

Cards make McBride best-paid tight end >> Star tight end Trey McBride has agreed to a four-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals as the franchise locks up one of the NFL’s best young players through the 2029 season.

The Cardinals confirmed the signing Thursday with multiple reports saying the deal is worth $76 million over the four seasons, including $43 million guaranteed, which would make him the league’s highest-paid tight end.

McBride, 25, was selected to his first Pro Bowl in 2024 after catching 111 passes for 1,146 yards. His 221 career catches are the most for a tight end in his first three seasons in league history, surpassing George Kittle’s mark of 216 from 2017-19.

Geno, Raiders agree to deal >> QB Geno Smith, who was traded to Las Vegas last month, agreed to a two-year, $75 million extension with the Raiders, ESPN reported Thursday.

The Raiders acquired Smith for a third-round draft pick from Seattle on March 7, but didn’t immediately reach a deal.
