Resident of San Jose

Beloved father and husband, Douglas Perry was born in Sacramento, California, in 1942 and passed away in San Jose, California on December 27, 2024. During his high school years in Los Angeles, he once played the violin as a soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He earned a bachelor's degree at USC in 1965. Following graduation, he joined the Dallas Symphony as a first violinist. He toured with them and played for Lyndon Johnson in the Rose Garden of the White House. He then joined the Navy and completed flight school. He was stationed at Moffett Field doing anti-submarine patrol from 1966 to 1970. Following his naval service, he attended San Jose State and earned a teaching credential in secondary education.

He taught junior high for eight years in Santa Rosa, and then moved to San Jose to work for Hewlett Packard as a software design engineer. This was a career he loved, spending 26 happy years until his retirement in 2006. After retirement, he served his community in the Kiwanis club, and continued his lifelong love of the violin with the Master Sinfonia. He performed as Concertmaster, and helped the organization transition to non-profit status. For his family, he was the beloved teller of jokes and stories. He was kindly friend, father, and husband to his neighbors and family. He passed on his love of music, and his joyful spirit is remembered by all who new him.
