


Stolen Vehicle and Repeat Thefts Arrest: On Jan. 25 at around 8:55 a.m., an officer was conducting a routine patrol in the area near the 1900 block of East Beamer Street and found a stolen U-Haul truck, which he took a report for earlier in the shift. The person with the truck was 38-year-old Derek Jenkins, of Sacramento. Jenkins was on searchable probation for stealing vehicles. A records check and a check of Jenkins criminal history showed he had felony warrants and multiple convictions for theft. Jenkins was arrested and booked at the Yolo County Jail for a stolen vehicle offense, theft with prior convictions, and warrants.
Drug Sales Arrest: On Jan. 25, at around 10:25 p.m., officers conducted a compliance check on the 1000 block of Fourth Street at a residence associated with 37-year-old Jose Cruz, of Woodland. Cruz was subject to search based on his Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) terms. During the search, officers located over an ounce of Methamphetamine, items consistent with drug sales, and several prohibited weapons. Cruz was arrested and booked at the Yolo County Jail for drug sales, possession of paraphernalia, possession of dangerous weapons, and violation of his PRCS terms.
Drug Sales Arrest: On Jan. 27, officers contacted 53-year-old John Newton of Woodland while conducting a welfare check on a person who was slumped over in a parked car on the 300 block of Industrial Way. Officers saw narcotics and drug paraphernalia in plain view. Newton did not follow officers’ orders and drove away from the area, leading them on a brief vehicle pursuit. Newton was detained outside a business on the 1400 block of East Main Street. Officers searched the vehicle and located over $600 in cash, fentanyl and a scale. Newton was arrested and booked at the Yolo County Jail for drug sales, evading police, driving on a suspended license and resisting arrest.

HOST made 73 contacts and offered services to 50 individuals, 8 accepted services. HOST tagged 10 camps and cleaned up 10. HOST conducted 9 downtown patrols.
HOST was working on a project on East Main Street near Yolo Polo Plaza. One officer was flagged down about a person having a medical issue near Walmart. The HOST officer arrived and located the man who was not breathing. Medical assistance was requested, and the officer began CPR until the Woodland Fire Department and Yolo County AMR arrived on-scene. As a result of being able to switch from HOST duties to first-aid duties, the man is now recovering at an area hospital.
