



The Super Bowl champion Eagles are set to kick off the 2025 NFL season with a Thursday night matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
The division rivals will meet at Lincoln Financial Field on Sept. 4 at 8:20 p.m. ET, marking the first season opener between the teams since 2000.
Mike Tirico made the announcement Monday morning on the “Today Show” as the NFL’s broadcast partners reveal select games on the schedule ahead of the release of the full slate of games on Wednesday.
Browns LB Owusu-Koramoah to miss season
Linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah has been placed on the reserve/physically unable to perform list by the Cleveland Browns and will miss the 2025 season because of a neck injury.
Owusu-Koramoah suffered the injury last season during the second half of a game against the Baltimore Ravens on Oct. 27.
Owusu-Koramoah was leading the Browns with 61 tackles and having his best season at the time when he was injured.
Bengals, Hendrickson remain deadlocked
Defensive end Trey Hendrickson and the Cincinnati Bengals remain deadlocked on progress toward a new deal or finding a new team.
Hendrickson, who led the NFL with 17 1/2 sacks last season, released a statement to ESPN saying there has been no communication since the NFL draft.
Hendrickson was an All-Pro selection last season. He received permission from the Bengals to seek a trade in March, but no progress has been made.
Ravens sign K Hoyland to compete with Loop
The Baltimore Ravens signed undrafted rookie kicker John Hoyland, giving themselves another option for Justin Tucker’s replacement.
Hoyland played at Wyoming and went 15 of 19 on field goals last season, with a long of 54.
Baltimore announced last week it was releasing Tucker, the five-time All-Pro whose future was in doubt ever since the Baltimore Banner reported in January that he’d been accused by massage therapists of inappropriate sexual behavior.
The also Ravens drafted kicker Tyler Loop of Arizona.
Rams’ Donald granted restraining order
Retired Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald has been granted a five-year restraining order against a woman he alleges has stalked him, threatened his son’s life and claimed to be his wife.
The restraining order against Janelle Anwar was issued during a Los Angeles County Superior Court hearing Wednesday in downtown L.A.

Cavs’ Mitchell might not play in critical Game 5
Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell is listed as questionable for Cleveland’s pivotal Game 5 of its second-round series against the Indiana Pacers after reaggravating a sprained left ankle on Sunday.
The All-Star guard had an MRI which confirmed the sprained ankle. He did not play the second half of a129-109 loss at Indiana.
Kings hire Woodson as associate head coach
The Sacramento Kings have hired longtime NBA and college head coach Mike Woodson as an associate head coach on Doug Christie’s new staff.
Woodson has extensive NBA experience, having played in the league for 11 seasons. He then coached in the NBA from 1996-2021 as both an assistant and head coach.

Miami LB Hays confirmed as driver in deadly crash
Miami Hurricanes linebacker Adarius Hayes was one of the drivers in a two-vehicle crash that left three people dead and at least two others injured, police said.
The three who died as a result of the crash were all in a Kia Soul, which collided with a Dodge Durango being driven by Hayes in Largo, Florida, on Saturday, police said.
No tickets or criminal charges have been filed, though the investigation is continuing.

United States blanked by Switzerland at Worlds
The U.S. Men’s National Team dropped a preliminary round contest at the 2025 IIHF Men’s World Championship to Switzerland, 3-0, in Herning, Denmark.
Team USA takes the ice against Norway for its fourth of seven preliminary round contests on Wednesday at 9:20 a.m. local time.

Berman signs extension at ESPN through 2029
Chris Berman has agreed to a new contract with ESPN that will take him through thenetwork’s 50th anniversary in 2029.
Berman has been an integral part of ESPN since joining the network a month after its launch in September of 1979. Besides being one of the original “SportsCenter” anchors, he has been a key part of the network’s NFL and baseball coverage.
Jordan joining NBC as NBA contributor
Michael Jordan is joining NBC Sports as a contributor to its NBA coverage when the 2025-26 season begins.
NBC returns to carrying the NBA after a 23-year absence. It had NBA rights from 1990 through 2002 and carried all six of Jordan’s titles as a member of the Chicago Bulls.
