AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Robert J. Fiedler, 28, 9700 block of Utica Avenue, Evergreen Park, was arrested March 7 and accused of aggravated battery after attempting to put an officer in a headlock and then punching the officer who was investigating a disturbance in the 8700 block of Utica Avenue, police said.

DEALING ALLEGED: Zavier Alexander, 36, Chicago, was arrested March 14 and accused of manufacture/delivery of more than 30 grams of cannabis after an officer recovered 75 grams of cannabis in multiple bags in the 9600 block of Western Avenue, police said.

Homewood

DUI CRASH: Joshua Hester, 40, 1700 block of Dixie Highway, Crete, was arrested and accused of drunken driving during a Feb. 15 crash investigation at Dixie Highway and Cedar Road, police said. Hester was also cited for driving in the wrong lane, driving while license suspended, failing to provide insurance, failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision and illegally transporting alcohol, police said.

Monee

SQUATTERS ARRESTED: Former Joliet residents Cesar Franchini, 21, Angel Franchini, 18, Alissa Ferrel, 20, and Jaelynn Sanchez, 18, and former Kankakee resident Aaliyah Pavon, 18, were arrested and accused of trespassing at 8:45 p.m. March 7 while attempting to access an unoccupied house in the 2600 block of Linden Avenue, police said. The group was unable to produce a lease agreement and the homeowner said he didn’t know them, police said.

Oak Lawn

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: Shadrack E. Hawkins, 21, Cicero Avenue, Oak Lawn, was arrested March 8 and subsequently charged with aggravated assault in the 9900 block of Cicero Avenue, police said.

STORE BURGLARY: Finishing carpentry products collectively selling for $3,609 were reported taken March 11 from Home Depot, 4060 95th St. Security video shows two individuals hiding in the store March 10 right before closing and then collecting the equipment and materials after employees left.

Palos Hills

GUN POSSESSION: Officers responding to a Feb. 25 shots-fired call arrested Andrew Healy, 19, Worth, and accused him of unlawfully possessing a weapon, police said.

Park Forest

GROOMING CHARGED: Michael P. Reda, 35, 22900 block of Glen Eagle Drive, Frankfort, is scheduled to appear in Will County court March 27, charged with indecent solicitation of a minor and traveling to meet a minor, according to court records online. The charge was filed March 14, based on Dec. 1 through Dec. 9 online communications between Reda and a person posing as a 13-year-old female, police said. “Predator Poachers,” a Texas-based youtube channel, engaged Reda in the conversations with the supposed teen and turned him over to officers when he arrived for a meeting it had set up in Park Forest, police said.

Steger

CARJACKING: Six mask-wearing male teens ended a March 8 ride-share trip near the intersection of Steger Road and State Street by hitting the driver in the head, taking his wallet and driving away in the car, police said. The passengers entered the vehicle in Richton Park, with three of them displaying handguns at the trip’s end, police said.

Will County

FATAL DUI: A Lemont man has been charged with aggravated drunken driving and reckless homicide in connection with a one-vehicle crash near Lemont, according to police and Will County court records online. Russell L. Johnson, 34, 13700 block of Cokes Road, lost control of the car he was driving Feb. 5 near Archer Avenue and 135th Street, causing it to go off the road and kill his two passengers, Quincy A. Benbow, 33, Plainfield, and Sameer Gowani, Lisle, police said. Johnson, arrested March 17 on a warrant, was ordered detained March 18 in the Will County jail until his April 8 preliminary hearing, court records show.
