89 San Jose Barb was born in Toronto, Canada. She married Jack Fairlie in 1954 and moved to the U.S. in 1956.

She worked at Stanford University for more than three decades working her way all the way up to the Department Manager of the Mathematics Department.

She not only enjoyed the theater, music and art, but also the wilderness, especially hiking, picnicking and camping. She was passionate about singing, politics, the local library, art and wine festivals, and most of all, family. She had endless energy for activities and was famous for always wanting to“pack one more thing in.” She is survived by her sister, Bette, brother, Bill, her two sons, John and Rob, her daughters-in-law, Caryn and Rebecca, and her three grandchildren, Zoe, Jessica and Ava.
