Manny Machado’s two-run double in the top of the 10th inning highlighted another late-inning rally for the Padres as San Diego won its sixth consecutive game, defeating the Miami Marlins 6-2 on Friday night.

Machado’s double off Brett De Geus (0-1) scored former Marlin Luis Arraez, who had singled, and Jake Cronenworth. Tyler Wade had broken the tie when he beat the throw home on a Cronenworth grounder to shortstop Xavier Edwards.

The Padres had also rallied Thursday, scoring three runs in the ninth inning to beat Pittsburgh 7-6.

San Diego tied Miami in the ninth Friday on Jackson Merrill’s 400-foot homer to center, his 16th of the season, off Marlins reliever George Soriano, who also gave up Machado’s run-scoring double in the eighth.

Marlins starter Edward Cabrera pitched seven shutout innings. The 26-year-old right-hander gave up four hits, while striking out four and walking three.

The Padres are an MLB-best 15-3 since the All-Star break.

Back-to-back homers to left by the Marlins’ Jake Burger and Jonah Bride leading off the fourth opened the scoring. Burger’s 428-foot blast was his 20th of the season and his seventh in his last 10 games.

Martin Perez, making his second start for the Padres after being acquired from Pittsburgh at the trade deadline, had his third consecutive quality start overall. He surrendered only the two solo homers and a single, striking out six and walking two in seven innings.

ORIOLES 4, RAYS 1 >> Zach Eflin worked seven scoreless innings against his former team and Baltimore moved into sole possession of first in the AL East with a win over host Tampa Bay.

Eflin (8-7) scattered four hits, walked one and struck out seven for his third straight victory since Baltimore obtained the right-hander from Tampa Bay on July 26.

Yennier Cano gave up a leadoff homer to Dylan Carlson in the ninth before closing out the combined five-hitter.

Colton Cowser and Cedric Mullins homered for the Orioles, who have a half-game lead over the Yankees, whose game with Texas on Friday night was postponed by rain.

Cowser, leading off the first, hit Zack Littell’s fourth pitch for his 18th homer.

After Gunnar Henderson drew a walk in a 10-pitch at-bat to load the bases with two outs in the fifth, Ryan O’Hearn made it 3-0 when he flared a two-run run single to center.

NATIONALS 3, ANGELS 2, 10 INNINGS >> Alex Call hit a game-winning single in the bottom of the 10th, Mitchell Parker pitched 6 1/3 innings without allowing an earned run and Washington edged Los Angeles.

After Nasim Nuñez sacrificed Jacob Young to third against Matt Moore (5-3), Angels manager Ron Washington summoned right-hander Ben Joyce from the bullpen. Call worked a full count before lining a shot off the drawn-in Luis Guillorme at second to score the winner.
