Long Beach, CA Robert Fults, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passionate outdoorsman, and construction executive, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2024.

Robert, affectionately known as Bob, was born June 9, 1938 in Los Angeles, California to George and Aida Fults. He had one brother, Gerald Fults, who passed in 2018. Bob graduated from Mira Costa High School in 1956 and from Occidental College in 1960 where he excelled in track, basketball, and golf.

After graduation, he began his business career at Pendleton Tool Company. In 1970, with encouragement from his father-in-law, Alfred Erickson, he joined Thorpe Insulation Company. He became President in 1972 and subsequently became an important leader in the mechanical insulation industry. Bob was President of the Western Insulation Contractors Association in 1977 and President of the National Insulation Association in 2001. He retired from the day-to-day operations of Thorpe in 1997.

Bob was anavid fly fisherman and traveled the world in its pursuit. He was also an excellent skier from an early age and continued skiing until the ripe old age of 81.

He was on the Board of Trustees at Occidental College, a member of 20th Century Roundtable, and a member of Long Beach Yacht Club. He was also a member of the San Gabriel Chapter of the Young Presidents’ Organization where he developed many lifelong friendships. Bob was a passionate golfer who was a member of Annandale Golf Club and more recently, Virginia Country Club in Long Beach. He was actively playing up until his final days.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Debbie, and two sons Eric (Vicky) Fults, David (Stacie) Fults, as well as his grandchildren, Kevin, Samantha, Ryan, Emma, and Andrew.
