How to avoid ticket scams

Tickets to popular concerts and big sporting events often sell out quickly, leaving many scouring the internet for tickets. Be wary of scammers offering fake tickets to these sold-out events. Once the money is sent, they vanish, leaving you without tickets. Other scammers will engage in scalping or reselling the tickets at a much higher price. This is illegal in California.

If you want to purchase tickets for a sold-out event, protect yourself by purchasing from a professional ticket broker instead of an unfamiliar social media seller. Before purchasing from a social media account, investigate the creation date of the social media account and look for reviews to see if anybody has encountered fraud. You can also conduct a reverse image search to check if the same picture of tickets, visas or receipts appears on other sites, which would indicate fraud. Avoid any discreet payment methods like cryptocurrency or gift card transactions.
