The Yolo County Sustainability Division is excited to announce the launch of the Yolo County Community Climate Action Fund, a new funding program designed to support local organizations in implementing sustainability initiatives.

According to a Yolo County press release, this program is a key step in advancing the county’s 2030 Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP), which the Board of Supervisors adopted in December 2024. The CAAP outlines a framework for achieving a countywide carbon-negative footprint by 2030 while ensuring an equitable and just transition for all communities.

The Community Climate Action Fund will provide $171,270 in funding to projects that advance Phase I CAAP actions, priority actions scheduled for implementation between 2025 and 2027. Eligible applicants, including Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), schools, tribal governments and special districts based in and/or serving Yolo County can apply for funds ranging from $5,000 to $30,000 per project. Funded projects must advance the CAAP’s goals by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing climate resilience, and/or fostering environmental sustainability throughout Yolo County communities. Preference will be given to projects serving communities in the unincorporated area.

This fund represents an opportunity to empower local organizations to take meaningful action toward a sustainable future. By providing targeted financial support, Yolo County aims to support innovative solutions that advance the goals of the CAAP, address climate challenges and benefit communities across the county.

The Sustainability Division will host two webinars for interested applicants to learn more about funding opportunities, eligibility criteria, and the application process. The webinars will provide an overview of the program and allow participants to ask questions directly to program staff.

Pre-application webinars are scheduled for Wednesday, March 19, from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom (register at https://tinyurl.com/ClimateFund1) and Friday, April 11, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. via Zoom (register at: https://tinyurl.com/ClimateFund2).

Applications for the Community Climate Action Fund must be submitted by Friday, May 9, at 5 p.m. Awarded projects must be completed by December 2026.
