Parker Napp scored four goals and CJ Castro added three as No. 4 seed Novato held on for an 11-9 victory against No. 5 Terra Linda in the MCAL boys lacrosse playoffs on Tuesday.

Tyler Smith added two goals for the Hornets (12-6) while Brian Yates and Johnny Roman added a goal apiece.

Novato had a 10-4 lead through three quarters before TL (8-9) made a late push by outscoring the Hornets 5-1 in the final period.

Novato moves on to face top-seeded MC (15-5) in a Thursday semifinal. No. 3 Redwood faces No. 2 Tam in the other semifinal.

Girls lacrosse

Alex Chamberlain and Abby Bartholo scored six goals apiece as No. 4 seed San Marin advanced to the MCAL girls lacrosse semifinals following a 16-8 victory against No. 5 Branson (10-5).

Chamberlain also dished out six assists and Bartholo had six draw controls for the Mustangs (11-5).

“Our defense played extremely well as a unit,” San Marin coach Dave Berry said. “Branson had some solid players that we had to contain and we did a good job with that.”

San Marin goalie Gia Ciolino stepped up with nine big saves. The Mustangs are set to face No. 1 Redwood (14-3) in the semifinals on Thursday. The Giants defeated the Mustangs 15-8 last week.

No. 3 seed Marin Catholic (15-4) defeated No. 6 Terra Linda 13-2 and faces No. 2 Tam (12-4-1) at on Thursday. Tam defeated MC 12-11 in the regular-season meeting on March 27.

Prep track

The Archie Williams boys emerged victorious in a tri-meet against Redwood and Tam -- notably defeating the Red-tailed Hawks 71-70. The Redwood girls picked up a pair of wins at the same meet. The full story can be found online at marinij.com/sports and will run in Thursday’s print edition.

Prep baseball

Sean McGrath scattered nine hits over seven innings, striking out 11 as San Marin maintained its hold on first place following a 3-1 win against San Rafael on Tuesday. Matthew Baldino, Tyler Keehn, and Trevor Krejdovsky all had two hits for San Marin (14-7, 12-1). Colby Jackson worked 6.1 innings for San Rafael (10-12, 7-8), allowing seven hits and two earned runs.

• Tito Fierstein had three hits and drove in three runs to lead Tam to a 7-2 victory against Archie Williams on Tuesday. Henry Stoll added a hit and two RBIs for the Red-tailed Hawks (16-5, 11-2), who scored six runs in the fifth inning and remained one game back of San Marin for first place with three games to play. Tam and San Marin end the season with a two-game series against each other next week. Jake Barnes had two hits and drove in a run for Archie Williams (11-9, 7-6).

• Novato turned five hits into a plethora of runs to leapfrog Marin Catholic in the standings following an 11-1 victory on Tuesday. Gio Castaing and Dominic Scafani had two RBIs apiece for the Hornets (12-8, 7-6), who entered the game tied with MC (10-10, 6-7) in the standings. J.P. Harmon worked six innings for Novato, allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out six.

• Grayson Roberts and Mo Jacoby combined on a five-hitter, striking out five hitters each, as Branson picked up a 5-2 victory against Terra Linda on Tuesday. Thomas Lardner and Holden Cane had two hits apiece for the Bulls (8-11, 2-11). SiEon Davis had two hits for TL (3-17, 0-13).

Prep softball

Kennedy Dunsing and Lila James drove in four runs apiece as Archie Williams rolled to a 15-2 victory against Analy in five innings on Tuesday.

Dunsing had four hits as the Peregrine Falcons compiled 16 hits as a team. Paige Murphy, Parker Conrad, and James had two hits apiece. Sam Singer hit a solo homer to lead off the top of the third inning.

Boys golf

Marin Academy shot its best round at Peacock Gap on Thursday, firing a 142 to defeat Stuart Hall and San Domenico, which both carded 165s. Charlie Wilhelm shot a 3-under-par 33 to take medalist honors.

Dylan Siegel shot a 35 for MA (12-0, 10-0 BCL West), Drayson Jaffee shot a career-best 36, and Charlie Hansen added a 38. San Domenico defeated Stuart Hall in the tri-match following a one-shot tiebreaker.

Marin Academy is guaranteed a spot in the BCL West Championships, to be held at Peacock Gap on Monday. San Domenico is also likely to make the four-team field.
