Sea Lion Point Trail, Carmel

This trail is a highlight of Point Lobos State Park. Head west past the entrance gate, following the road until it hits a parking lot. Don’t make the turn south, Get out and take the cliffside trail where commorants and sea lions await, as well as a killer panoramic view. Upon entering the trail start hiking in either direction — toward Weston Beach or Sea Lion Point. Look out for the volunteer docents along the trail, who will share information about local wildlife or the history of the reserve. We recommend arriving early to beat the crowds and get a parking space. The best time to go is in the early morning, late evening, or on a weekday.
