WEST COVINA — Two males were killed Saturday in a fiery single-vehicle crash on the 10 Freeway in West Covina.
The crash occurred about 4:30 a.m. Saturday on the westbound freeway at the Barranca Avenue on-ramp, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Investigators said they did not know why the 2021 Honda sedan veered off the road as it approached the ramp.
The car veered onto the right shoulder and side-swiped a metal-and-wood guardrail, then crashed into a concrete slab and the metal pole of an overhead freeway sign, then burst into flames.
The driver and right-front passenger died inside the car, investigators said. Information on their identities was not immediately available. It was unclear if there were any other occupants.
A SigAlert issued at 5:50 a.m. closing the on-ramp to the westbound freeway was canceled at 9 a.m., the CHP reported.
