A community Thanksgiving service is scheduled in Hemet.
Sponsored by the Hemet/San Jacinto Interfaith Council, the annual Community Interfaith Thanksgiving Service is set for 4 p.m. Nov. 16. It will be at the Center for Spiritual Living, 40450 Stetson Ave.
The service is open to people of all faiths and backgrounds and aims to “celebrate gratitude, unity and community spirit,” a news release states.
The main speaker is Hemet Police Chief Michael Arellano. Other speakers will include Dale Garland, pastor of Hope in the Valley Baptist Church in Hemet, and Jim Lineberger of the Valley Community Pantry.
The event also will feature a canned food drive.
The council’s mission includes promoting understanding and respect among all those of various faiths and serving the San Jacinto Valley faith community’s needs.
“This service is a wonderful reminder that gratitude and compassion connect us all,” Christine Formica, secretary of the council, said in the release. “It’s a chance to come together, reflect, and give thanks as one community.”
