Ed was a beloved husband, grandfather, father, and friend. Anyone who met him was charmed by his gentle nature, kindness, and quiet sense of humor. He was a wonderful storyteller who loved to talk about his time in the Army, meeting the love of his life, his latest hiking adventure with his wife, or their world travels.
He could humbly outplay anyone at Trivial Pursuit and was a true historian of the memories, dates, and places dear to him.
Ed was born in Huntington, Indiana to Augustus and Ione (Butler) Wasmuth. He attended Indiana University in 1945. At IU, he earned his bachelor's and MBA degrees and married the love of his life, fellow student Marilyn Molen of Hammond, Ind. After graduating from Indiana University, Ed joined Kitchen Maid Corporation; the family business founded in 1911 in Andrews, Indiana. Ed and Marilyn eventually resettled in Boulder, Colorado, to be nearer to their children and grandchildren.
Among Ed's accomplishments were his three children with his wife Marilyn: Nancy 'Sudha', Daniel, and Wendy, ser ving in the Army post-WWII, his career as Treasurer for National Homes Corporation, treasurer for the YMCA of Lafayette, Ind., volunteering for Meals on Wheels in Boulder, doing his entire family's taxes every year, and his devotion to the Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; their three children, Nancy 'Sudha' Marsh (Mexico), Dan Wasmuth (Lafayette, IN), and Wendy Kahn-Robson (Hygiene, CO); seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Powers and his grandson, Cory Wasmuth.
There will be a private celebration of life for family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local Meals on Wheels in his name.
