SAN JOSE >> A man was killed in a solo-vehicle freeway crash Monday afternoon in San Jose, authorities said.

The collision was reported around 4:15 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 between Tully Road and Capitol Expressway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver, described as a 54-year-old man, was northbound when his car veered off the right side of the roadway and overturned. He was pronounced dead at the scene; his name has not been publicly released pending his formal identification and notification of his next of kin by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.

There was no immediate indication that the driver was impaired by drugs or alcohol, according to CHP authorities.
