Geri Erickson Hackett, beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away ather home onJanuary 3,2025.

Geri held an unyielding faith in Jesus Christ that sustained and supported her throughout her life, particularly as she successfully defeated uterine cancer in 2006-2008 and courageously faced her recent, daunting battle with lung cancer.

Geri was born in1944 to Duane and Loraine Erickson and raised in Chicago.

She attended St. Gregory and Von Steuben High Schools. She also studied at Wright College and Loyola University. In the 1960s, she was a teacher at Queen of Angels Elementary School and then spent ten years working in Masonite Corporation’s design center.

In the mid-1970s, Geri attended Northminster Fellowship at Chicago’s Fourth Presbyterian Church, where she met the love of her life, Steve Hackett.

After marrying, they moved across the country to Mountain View, where she was an executive secretary at ARGOSystems.

To her great joy, Geri gave birth to twin sons on Thanksgiving Day 1980 and spent the next 44 years: raising the boys to productive adulthood; tutoring local children; and performing Deacon service at Community and San Ramon Presbyterian Churches.

One of her fondest memories was her Christmas 1982 trip to visit Steve, who was then working in Paris.

In later years, Geri actively participated in Silver Sneakers and authored a book, Jesus Cares About Your Cancer (2012).

Geri was adedicated, loving mother and deeply empathetic person. She always had acaring heart for those suffering from illness, sadness, or injury.

She was agood and faithful servant to God, using all of her talents, and has now entered into His joy, leaving suffering behind.

Geri is survived by her husband Steve; her son Alan (Mountain View); her son David, his wife Kathy, and grandchildren Ava and Caspian (Los Angeles); and her nieces Beth Stewart (Austin, Texas) and Jean Ramey (Hoffman Estates, Illinois). Her sister Janet Ramey (Oak Forest, Illinois) predeceased her. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 8 at San Ramon Presbyterian Church, which meets at Christ Community Church in San Ramon, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
