Brayan Reyes scored one goal and assisted on another in the first half to lead the San Rafael High boys soccer team to a 3-1 win against No. 13 Miramonte in the North Coast Section Division IV playoffs on Wednesday night.

Reyes opened the scoring on a penalty kick in the seventh minute then assisted Jaedon Higgins-Jones just before the half for a 2-0 lead. No. 4 seed San Rafael (8-11-4) went up 3-0 in the 49th minute on a goal by Daniel Rodas, assisted by Callum Stewart.

San Rafael hosts No. 5 Marin Catholic (8-7-5) at 7 p.m. on Saturday night.

• Enrique Guzman scored a hat trick as Marin Catholic secured a 5-3 home win against Concord in the first round of the D-IV playoffs on Wednesday. Guzman opened the scoring for MC off an an assist from Griffin Ochoa then scored the third and fourth goals for the Wildcats (8-7-5). Andres Saeltzer and Liam Burns also scored for MC. Burns, James Root, and Charlie Carroll had assists.

Girls basketball

Senior Izzy McFadden scored a team-best 21 points as No. 3 Marin Catholic advanced past No. 14 Mt. Diablo, 54-45, in the NCS D-II playoffs Wednesday. The Wildcats (18-11) will face either No. 6 Maria Carrillo or No. 11 Alhambra in Saturday’s quarterfinals. Junior Cece Biernat added 14 points for the Wildcats and Brooke Spagnuolo finished with six.

• Archie Williams High secured a 47-38 road win against Santa Rosa to open the NCS D-IV playoffs Wednesday. The Peregrine Falcons (16-11) are set to face top-seeded Encinal in Saturday’s quarterfinals. The Falcons fell behind early Wednesday, but stepped up their defense late in the first quarter and got a shot of energy from Parker Conrad and Lydia Battaglia off the bench to close the first half with a one-point lead. Reese Patton led the Falcons with 14 points, while Conrad scored 10, and Lila Peterson hit nine points. Kaeley Sulllivan controlled the paint again, and Carolyn Morris was a key playmaker throughout.

• No. 11 Tam lost on the road to No. 6 Hoopa Valley, 61-49, in Wednesday’s opener of the NCS D-IV playoffs.

Boys basketball

No. 13 Terra Linda challenged No. 4 University before falling 76-68 in Wednesday’s first round of the NCS D-II bracket. Big plays from Evan Brewster and Bennett Kayser kept the Trojans (16-11) in striking distance the entire game.

Women’s basketball

Dominican University struggled on shots beyond the arc while Hawaii Hilo was red hot as the Penguins saw their eight-game win streak snapped following a 67-59 home loss on Wednesday night.

The Penguins (19-10, 13-5 PacWest) made 3 of 17 shots from 3-point range while the Vulcans (6-17, 4-13) shot a blistering 11 of 17 — a 64.7% hit rate.

Alaiyah San Juan paced four players in double-digit scoring with 15 points for the Penguins, who hadn’t lost since Jan. 16. Abby Cooper had 13 points, Taylor Linzie had 12, and Andraya Perez scored 10.

Men’s basketball

Dominican hung around for a half but lost contact after the break in a 96-68 home loss to Hawaii Hilo on Wednesday night. The Penguins (9-17, 4-14) trailed 41-35 at the break before getting outscored 55-33 by the Vulcans (16-11, 9-8) in the second half.

Jorge Ochoa paced the Penguins with 15 points. Sargent Jeffery added 12 points, Omari Davis scored 11, and Nathan Ilunga had 10.
