Now that he’s been elected to a second term in office, how will incoming President Donald Trump govern?

That’s our Question of the Week for readers.

It’s a universal truth that all politicians’ actual agendas end up at least slightly different from the issues they campaigned on. Sometimes things are easy to say and harder to do; sometimes it’s a matter of external circumstances.

Which of the issues that Trump campaigned on will be his priorities in his initial weeks and months in office come late January?

Perhaps Trump’s No. 1 issue on the hustings was his promise to begin “the biggest mass deportations” of undocumented migrants in U.S. history. Will he begin that round-up right away? What federal agencies will he muster — just ICE and the Border Patrol, or would he order troops in as well? His “border czar” says the policy will involve going into businesses and factories to check legal status — will that be widespread? Will Trump’s desire to build a border wall, which was stymied during his first term, succeed?

Trump said that he wouldn’t seek to be a “dictator,” except on “Day One,” when he would close the border with Mexico, and start “drilling, drilling, drilling.” “After that,” he said, “I’m not a dictator.” As president, would he actually do anything Americans would call dictatorial?

In the campaign, Trump often vowed to “go after” his political “enemies.” He said President Joe Biden should be “arrested for treason.” He said Vice President Kamala Harris should be “impeached and prosecuted” because she failed to stop illegal immigration. California Sen.-elect Adam Schiff “is a sleazebag and traitor, and should be prosecuted for the damage he has done to our Country!” Trump wrote on social media. He very much sees the press as an “enemy from within.” Will there be any actual attempts at retribution, or is that just rhetoric?

What tactics will he use to fight inflation? What kind of tax cuts will succeed?

Will he dismantle Obamacare? Can he really bring peace in the Ukraine war in 24 hours? What about in Israel? How will he treat California?
