MONday night football

Seahawks (3-0) at Lions (2-1)

When: 8:15 p.m. EDT Monday

TV: ABC

BetMGM NFL odds: Lions by 3 1/2

Series record: Seahawks lead 13-5

Last meeting: Seahawks beat Lions 37-31 in OT on Sept. 17, 2023, in Detroit.

Last week: Seahawks beat Dolphins 24-3; Lions beat Cardinals 20-13.

Seahawks player to watch: RB Zach Charbonnet. The second-year pro, who played at Michigan and transferred to UCLA, had career highs with 91 yards rushing and two TDs against Miami.

Lions player to watch: QB Jared Goff. He has more INTs (four) than TD passes (three) through three games and has been fortunate to have one of the NFL’s best tandem of running backs.

Key matchup: Goff against the NFL’s top-ranked team against the pass. Goff has completed 59 passes to his top five receivers, but they have been caught an average of just 4.9 yards past the line of scrimmage. If the Seahawks can shut down Detroit’s passing game, they can load up the box to slow down a running game led by RBs David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. There’s a chance that might happen. The Seahawks are the first team since the 1979 Pittsburgh Steelers to win their first three games while holding each opponent to fewer than 150 yards passing.

Series notes: Seattle has beaten the Dan Campbell-led Lions in each of the past three seasons. ... The Seahawks have won six straight matchups, including a playoff win in the 2016 season and early last season when they lost a 10-point lead in the last 3:08 of regulation and went on to win in OT when Geno Smith threw a second TD pass to Tyler Lockett. ... Detroit is 1-8 against the Seahawks this century, winning 28-24 in 2012 after Matthew Stafford threw a go-ahead TD pass to Titus Young with 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Stats & stuff: Seattle has a chance to be 4-0 for the third time in franchise history, joining its teams in 2020 and 2013. ... Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald, a former Michigan defensive coordinator under Jim Harbaugh, has a chance to join Josh McDaniels (Denver in 2009) as the second NFL coach younger than 40 to start 4-0 since 1933. ... Charbonnet, filling in for Walker, ran for 42 yards on a 98-yard drive in the fourth quarter against the Dolphins. ... Smith has completed 75% of his passes. ... Montgomery and Gibbs have combined for 438 rushing yards and 130 receiving, scoring five of the team’s seven TDs. ... WR Jameson Williams had a combined 200 yards receiving in the first two games and was held to a total of 2 yards on one catch and one run last week. ... Hutchinson has an NFL-high 6 1/2 sacks.

Titans (0-3) at Dolphins (1-2)

When: 7:30 p.m. EDT Monday

TV: ESPN

BetMGM NFL odds: Dolphins by 1

Series record: Dolphins lead 21-18.

Last meeting: Titans beat Dolphins 28-27 on Dec. 11, 2023, in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Last week: Titans lost to Packers 30-14; Dolphins lost to Seahawks 24-3.

Titans player to watch: Will Levis. The second-year quarterback will be making his 13th NFL start back at the stadium where he had his biggest clutch moment, rallying the Titans to 15 points in 51 seconds for a comeback victory. That was his lone 300-yard passing game in the NFL. Levis has had to learn a second offense with Brian Callahan getting used to being both a first-time head coach and play-caller. Levis already has one more interception than he had in nine starts as a rookie with with five, including a pair of pick-6s. He also has three fumbles, two off strip-sacks.

Dolphins players to watch: Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. The NFL’s leading receiving duo from 2023 has had a quiet start to the season. Hill caught an 80-yard touchdown pass to go with 130 receiving yards in the season opener, but he has not had more than 50 receiving yards in a game since. Waddle hasn’t had more than 41 receiving yards since going for 101 in the opener.

Key matchup: Titans run game vs. Dolphins run defense. Miami defensive tackle Calais Campbell said the team’s rushing defense so far this season “is not our standard” after the Dolphins gave up 112 rushing yards per game and 4.5 yards per carry in the first three weeks. Miami has also been burned for huge plays on the ground. Buffalo’s James Cook had a 49-yard touchdown run against the Dolphins in Week 2. Travis Etienne had a 26-yard carry against them in Week 1. Campbell said the Titans could be the best rushing team they’ve faced so far because of Will Levis’ scrambling ability and the production of Tony Pollard, who has 158 yards on 39 carries. The Titans also are looking to get backup Tyjae Spears more involved. Spears had 118 yards from scrimmage with his pass-catching skills out of the backfield in Miami last December.

eagles (2-1) at Buccaneers (2-1)

When: 1 p.m. EDT Sunday

TV: Fox

BetMGM NFL odds: Eagles by 2 1/2

Series record: Buccaneers lead 12-11

Last meeting: Buccaneers beat Eagles 32-9 in NFC wild-card game Jan. 15, 2024.

Last week: Eagles beat Saints 15-12; Buccaneers lost to Broncos 26-7.

Key matchup: Eagles defensive front led by Jalen Carter against the Bucs offensive line, which has allowed 12 sacks in the past two games. Carter was dominant against New Orleans last week, keying a turnaround for a defense that allowed Green Bay and Atlanta to run wild the previous two weeks. The Bucs played the past two weeks without RT Luke Goedeke (concussion), allowing five sacks against Detroit and seven in their loss to the Broncos.

Series notes: The Eagles lead the regular-season series 9-8. Some of the most memorable meetings between the franchises, though, have been in the playoffs, where the Bucs have won four of six matchups. The Eagles dominated a regular-season meeting in 2023, then lost to the Bucs 32-9 in the wild-card round of the playoffs.

steelers (3-0) at Colts (1-2)

When: 1 p.m. Sunday

TV: CBS

BetMGM NFL odds: Steelers by 2

Series record: Colts lead 24-19

Last meeting: Colts won 30-13 in Indianapolis on Dec. 16, 2023.

Last week: Steelers beat Chargers 20-10 in Pittsburgh; Colts beat Bears 21-16 in Indianapolis

Key matchup: Steelers run defense vs. Jonathan Taylor. Pittsburgh’s stifling defense is ranked in the top five in total defense, run defense, pass defense and scoring defense and, like previous Steelers teams, prides itself on playing big — regardless of the opponent. Taylor seems to be rounding into the form that helped him win the 2021 rushing title. He has back-to-back 100-yard games and three TD runs in three weeks.

Series notes: Indy’s win last season snapped Pittsburgh’s eight-game winning streak in this series. The Steelers won nine straight over the Colts from 1985-2002. ... Pittsburgh has won all four postseason matchups. The Steelers went on two play in two Super Bowls after those victories.

patriots (1-2)

at 49ers (1-2)

When: 4:05 p.m. Sunday

TV: Fox

BetMGM NFL odds: 49ers by 10

Series record: 49ers lead 9-5.

Last meeting: 49ers beat Patriots 33-6 in Foxborough, Mass., on Oct. 25, 2020.

Last week: Patriots lost to New York Jets 24-3; 49ers lost 27-24 to the Los Angeles Rams.

Key matchup: Patriots DE Keion White vs. 49ers RT Colton McKivitz. White has been one of the most productive edge rushers early this season. He has four sacks and 12 pressures playing both sides of the line early this season. He might line up more this week on New England’s left side to avoid All-Pro Trent Williams and take advantage of McKivitz, whose 13 pressures allowed are tied for the most of any tackle this season, according to PFF.

Series notes: The Patriots have won the past two road games in the series, beating the 49ers at Levi’s Stadium in 2016 and at Candlestick Park in 2008. ... San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan won his only meeting against New England since taking over in 2017, winning 33-6 on the road in 2020.

commanders (2-1) at cardinals (1-2)

When: 4:05 p.m. Sunday

TV: Fox

BetMGM NFL odds: Cardinals by 3 1/2

Series record: Commanders lead 77-47-2.

Last meeting: Commanders beat Cardinals 20-16 in Landover, Maryland, on Sept. 10, 2023.

Last week: Commanders beat Cincinnati Bengals 38-33; Cardinals lost 20-13 to Detroit Lions.

Key matchup: The Cardinals’ improved pass rush hopes to make Jayden Daniels a little more uncomfortable than he was against the Bengals, when he completed 21 of 23 passes. Arizona has nine sacks through three games this season, which ranks in the middle of the league. If that holds it would be a big improvement on last season, when the team ranked near the bottom of the league in that category.

Series notes: The Commanders have dominated the matchup since 2000, winning 11 of 15 games. ... The two teams will be meeting for the 127th time going back to 1932. The only team the Cardinals have faced more is the New York Giants (129).

browns (1-2) at raiders (1-2)

When: 4:25 p.m. Sunday

TV: CBS

BetMGM NFL odds: Raiders by 2

Series record: Raiders lead 15-10.

Last meeting: Raiders beat the Browns 16-14 on Dec. 20, 2021.

Last week: Browns lost to the Giants 21-15; Raiders lost to the Panthers 36-22.

Key matchup: Raiders offensive tackles vs. Browns defensive ends. Left tackle Kolton Miller is Las Vegas’ best offensive lineman, but is still working his way into form after offseason shoulder surgery. Rookie DJ Glaze will man the other side if Thayer Munford isn’t back because of knee and ankle injuries. The Browns have their own injury concerns at defensive end, with Myles Garrett dealing with an assortment of issues. But the combination of Garrett and Za’Darius Smith could cause the Raiders problems.

Series notes: The Raiders have won the past four meetings. ... The past seven games — and 11 of 12 — have been decided by 10 points or fewer. ... This is the Browns’ first game in Las Vegas. ... Cleveland hosted four of the previous five meetings and went 1-4.

chiefs (3-0) at Chargers (2-1)

When: 4:25 p.m. Sunday

TV: CBS

BetMGM NFL odds: Chiefs by 7 1/2

Series record: Chiefs lead 69-57-1.

Last meeting: Chiefs beat Chargers 13-12 in Inglewood, Calif. on Jan. 7.

Last week: Chiefs beat Atlanta 22-17; Chargers lost to Pittsburgh 20-10.

Key matchup: Chargers TE Will Dissly vs. Chiefs LB Drue Tranquill and Nick Bolton. Kansas City is struggling to cover tight ends through the first three weeks of the season. Baltimore’s Isaiah Likely had nine receptions for 111 yards and a touchdown, Mike Gesicki led the way with seven grabs and 91 yards for Cincinnati, and Kyle Pitts ripped off a 50-yard catch for Atlanta. Dissly isn’t a flashy pass catcher on par with those others, but this might be the perfect time for coach Jim Harbaugh and coordinator Greg Roman to feature him given the uncertainty elsewhere on offense.

Series notes: Kansas City has won five in a row over Los Angeles. … The Chiefs have won all four games against the Chargers at SoFi Stadium, but each of those have been one-possession games, with two decided in overtime.
