



First State Bank has awarded five charities donations that will total $32,500 as a result of their fifth annual Banksgiving campaign, which celebrates non-profit organizations making a positive impact in their communities. The grand prize recipient received $10,000 and four additional organizations were awarded $5,000. For the first time, an honorable mention was selected to receive a $2,500 donation.
The winners are:
• Dutton Farms, located in Rochester Hills, was awarded the $10,000 grand prize. Dutton Farms empowers and supports adults with developmental disabilities to live a life of purpose, inclusion and dignity. It will be allocated to their Art Without Limits program which provides participants the chance to explore various artistic mediums to produce artwork that reflects their perspective. The artwork is then sold to allow participants to earn a commission on their sales.
• iCare of Michigan, based out of Utica, has a mission to ensure families facing hardship get help for their emergency needs through housing support, food insecurity or mental health services, with a commitment to respond within 24-48 hours, received a $5,000 grant.
• Macomb Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, based out of Clinton Township, which is an organization of college educated women to the constructive development of its members and public service with a primary focus on the black community. They will use the $5,000 award to issue scholarships to graduating seniors in 2025, to enhance their annual Back to School Wellness event and mobilize a community book drive.
• Free Bird Initiative provides practical care and life skills support for survivors of human trafficking and those at risk to help empower them to keep moving forward. The $5,000 will be used to help the organization obtain a physical location to allow them to meet with trafficking survivors.
• Rochester Pollinators’ mission is provide education and resources to preserve the Monarch butterfly and pollinator population by reintroducing Michigan native plants into local landscapes, including home gardens, businesses and municipal landscapes, to help local pollinators flourish with their $5,000 grant.
• The Ellington Grace Foundation, which is dedicated to supporting first time mothers with babies in the NICU and beyond with resources, emotional support and practical assistance they need by providing essential care packages, financial aid and community based support systems. They received a $2,500 grant as a runner up.
