UNCASVILLE, Conn. >> Angel Reese had her first triple double, Hailey Van Lith led a dominant performance by the Chicago bench with a career-high 16 points and the Sky pulled away from the Connecticut Sun for a 78-66 win on Sunday.

Fueled by Reese’s 11 assists — more than double her previous career high — Chicago put five players in double figures. The Sky bench outscored the Sun reserves 36-2 in the Commissioner’s Cup game.

Reese also had 11 points and 13 rebounds for Chicago (3-7). Kia Nurse had 11 points on 4-of-4 shooting with three 3s, and Kamilla Cardoso and Ariel Atkins both had 10 points. Reserve Rachel Banham made her 300th career 3-pointer.

Pogacar ready for the Tour de France after winning Critérium du Dauphiné

PARIS >> Tadej Pogacar produced a dominant display ahead of his Tour de France defense by winning the Critérium du Dauphiné for the first time.

The UAE Team Emirates rider finished 59 seconds ahead of second-placed Jonas Vingegaard overall after controlling the eighth and final 133-kilometer (83-mile) stage on Sunday from Val-d’Arc to the Plateau du Mont-Cenis.

“Once again today, the team did a great job,” Pogacar said. “We managed to defend the jersey and we can go home happy and prepare for the Tour.”

Pogacar will seek his fourth Tour de France title in July.

The Slovenian finished third Sunday with the same time as his major rival, two-time Tour champion Vingegaard of Visma-Lease a Bike, who was second.

Lenny Martinez won the final stage in 3 hours, 34 minutes, 18 seconds for Bahrain Victorious, atop the Plateau du Mont-Cenis located on the French-Italian border. The French rider finished 34 seconds ahead of Vingegaard and Pogacar.

Pogacar reacted with ease to Vingegaard’s attack on the final climb to Col du Mont-Cenis in a tough race that Tour contenders use to fine-tune their preparations.

Duplantis raises his pole vault world record to 6.28 meters in front of home fans

STOCKHOLM >> Mondo Duplantis lifted his pole vault world record to 6.28 meters at a Diamond League meet at the Olympic Stadium in the Swedish capital on Sunday.

The Olympic and world champion added a centimeter at his first attempt to the previous record he set at the end of February in France.

It was the 12th pole vault world record for the 25-year-old Swede and the first time in front of home fans.

Before the Stockholm meet, Duplantis said setting a world record at home was one of his dreams.

“It’s a magical feeling,” Duplantis said afterward. “I wanted it so bad,” he said. “I kept saying it was the only thing I was missing. Now, I’m done. I can just chill.”

The Louisiana-born Duplantis competes for his mother’s native Sweden.

After clearing 6.00 meters, Duplantis didn’t target his own meeting record of 6.16 but went straight for the world record.
