Andy Isaac, an avid Detroit sports fan and social-media personality, died on Thursday morning, according to a post on his account on X (formerly Twitter).

“Andy passed away peacefully this morning beside his loving family,” the post read. “We thank you all for your support and love over the years. This was a genuine space of laughter and kindness. Please carry this spirit on in honor of Andy.”

Isaac, was known more for his @WorldofIsaac account on X, where he posted on Feb. 18 that he was entering hospice care after a long battle with cancer.

Isaac, 44, who grew up in Sterling Heights and lives in Troy, has been a fixture on X since the early days of the platform. He originally started a blog in 2006 to chronicle his battle against Hodgkin’s lymphoma; it originally was just a way to keep friends and family updated about his condition without having to tell everyone one by one.

According to a profile by The Athletic in 2019, he first went into remission in 2007, shifting much of his online voice toward Detroit sports takes.
