Sadie Holden served nine aces, and Soquel High’s girls volleyball team swept host Hollister 25-15, 26-24, 25-18 in the teams’ nonleague match Thursday.

Holden served seven straight points to help the Knights rally from a 24-19 deficit to a 26-24 win in the second set.

Claire Petersen had 10 kills, four digs, and one ace for the Knights, Zoe Adams had eight kills, and Liv Barton had six kills and three digs.

Soquel’s Lily Juarez-Sapone had 11 assists and three digs, Mia Riddle had 11 assists and two digs, and Gianna Audisio had six digs and two assists. Gemma Reyes made a team-high 16 digs.

Soquel (2-5) hosts San Lorenzo Valley in the teams’ Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League opener on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

At Scotts Valley 3, Harker 1 >> Junior outside hitter Aila Papadopoulos had 14 kills and 10 digs, and the Falcons won their nonleague match 25-18, 15-25, 25-16, 25-22 on Thursday.

Junior outside hitter Hayden Smith had 11 kills and nine digs for the Falcons, and junior middle blocker Makayla McDonnell had five blocks and four kills.

Scotts Valley (3-1) hosts St. Francis (3-1) on Monday at 6:30 p.m.

At St. Francis 3, Kirby 0 >> Setter Georgia Otzman served eight aces and made 10 assists in the Sharks’ 25-12, 25-16, 25-15 sweep on Thursday.

Setter Julie Lopez had eight aces and five assists for the Sharks, and middle blocker Carley Anderson had four kills and one block.

The Sharks (3-1) host Pajaro Valley in their next home game on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

At Stevenson 3, Watsonville 1 >> The Wildcatz suffered a 25-17, 17-25, 25-17, 25-22 loss in nonleague action Thursday.

Daisy Cornejo had 12 kills, six aces, and one block for the Wildcatz (0-1). Sofia Murillo made 14 assists. Leslie Renteria had 15 digs and Iliana Sarabia had 12 digs, and Aliylah Rodríguez had two aces and eight digs.

Senior Ava Edwards had 18 kills and two aces to pace the Pirates (1-0).

Watsonville plays in the Rancho San Juan Volleyball Smash on Saturday.

Dueck reaches milestone >> Senior libero Peyton Dueck, an Aptos High alumna, etched her name in the record books by recording her 1,000th career dig in the first set of UCLA’s 25-15, 26-24, 27-25 loss to No. 17 Tennessee in Knoxville on Thursday night.

Dueck made nine digs and dished out three assists in the loss.

Dueck made 467 digs during her one season at Cal Poly-SLO and has now tallied 540 during her three years as a Bruin to bring her total to 1,007.

She’ll return to the Bay Area for UCLA’s match against Cal at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley on Sept. 21 at 1 p.m.

Girls water polo

Harbor 22, at Westmont 9 >> Senior captain Abigail Higgins scored a career-high 12 goals, and had three steals and two assists in the Pirates’ nonleague rout Thursday.

Higgins’ previous single-game high of 10 goals came in a game against Hollister last season.

The offensive-minded Pirates (3-0) have scored 19 or more goals in all three of their wins.

Senior captain Serena Manildi had four goals, five assists, and six steals for the Pirates.

Senior Lily Grauman had three goals, two assists, and two steals. Senior Zia Jaggar had two goals, two assists, and two steals, and junior Kate Brandon had four steals, three assists and scored one goal.

Sophomore goalie Kallista Whitmore made six saves, had two assists, and two steals.

Harbor hosts Pioneer of San Jose in nonleague action on Tuesday.

Boys water polo

At Westmont 13, Harbor 7 >> The Pirates fell short in their nonleague road match Thursday.

Harbor (0-2) plays Centennial (0-6) to open action in the Morro Bay Tournament on Friday at 5:40 p.m.

Girls tennis

At Stevenson 6, Scotts Valley 1 >> The Falcons opened their season with a nonleague loss in Pebble Beach on Thursday.

Junior Riya Kuriakose and sophomore Carmen Pitterling were victorious for the Falcons in the days’ longest match, winning 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7) over Belle Wang and Maya Daffner in a third set tie-breaker in doubles action.

The Falcons (0-1) host Roseville in a scrimmage on Saturday at 9 a.m. and travel to St. Francis in Watsonville on Monday at 4:30 p.m. for a nonleague match.
