Around Macomb County and the nation Monday, veterans, their families and officials gathered at various events to pay respects on Veterans Day.

At the Walter Bruce VFW Post 1146, a full house gathered to honor those who have served. Veterans Day is held on Nov. 11 annually to recognize the sacrifices and service of millions who have worn the military uniform, many of whom faced grave dangers and challenges while protecting the nation.

Ceremonies were also held at Clinton Grove and Resurrection cemeteries in Clinton Township, on the Sterling Heights Municipal campus, at Veterans Memorial Park in Warren and AMVETS Post 72 in New Haven as well as the Michigan Military Technical and Historical Society Museum in Eastpointe.

Recognition of veterans in the county is not done as Warren will hold a Veterans Day Brass and Breakfast event at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15 in the city hall first floor conference room, 1 City Square. Events will include food and drinks at the event, which is for city residents.
