Sofia Niklaus had three goals and one assist, but the No. 8 seed Scotts Valley High girls lacrosse team suffered a 13-5 loss to No. 1 Archbishop Mitty in the Central Coast Section Division II quarterfinals in San Jose on Tuesday.

Niklaus, still recovering from a knee injury, also had a 65% draw win rate, with five draw controls, six ground balls, and two caused turnovers.

“Mitty did a good job of face-guarding Sofia and making it hard for her to get open and be involved in the offense,” Falcons coach Colleen Niklaus said. “The rest of the team stepped up and continued to work hard. I am extremely proud of this team: their grit, hard work, and what growth and improvement since the start of the season.”

Skylar Dufour and Dillon Fiorita each had a goal and as for the Falcons (9-4 overall), who made the CCS for a fourth straight season. Dufour also had five draw controls and four ground balls, and Fiorita had three draw controls and two interceptions.

Goalie Lili Raif made nine saves for the Falcons, who had just one substitute.

Scotts Valley trailed 5-4 at the half, but the Monarchs pulled away in the second half.

In the semifinals on Thursday, Mitty (5-10) hosts No. 5 Los Gatos (9-8) at 4 p.m. and No. 3 Hillsdale (12-6) plays at No. 2 Los Altos (12-6) at 7 p.m.

Boys golf

CCS Championships >> Harbor senior Kaden Dunton shot 3-over-par 74 and tied for 25th place at the CCS Championships at Laguna Seca Golf Ranch in Monterey on Tuesday.

Saint Ignatius sophomore Jayden Jew shot 5-under-par 66 for medalist honors. Junipero Serra sophomore Kyler Heath and Stevenson sophomore Calvin Etcheverry tied for second at 68.

Stevenson (351) won the team title. Palo Alto (364) took second and Saint Ignatius (367) was third. Carmel (367) lost in a playoff to move on and finished fourth. Junipero Serra (373) was fifth and followed by Gunn (375), Bellarmine (378), and Los Altos (383).

The top three teams and top four individuals not on the top three teams advance to the CIF NorCal Regional Championships, which will be held at Berkeley Country Club in El Cerrito on May 27.

High school baseball

Soquel 10, at Harbor 2 >> Connor Corlett had two hits, including a home run, and three RBI, and the Knights earned their first Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League title since 2015 outright with their win Tuesday.

Noah Piona had three hits, including a double and triple, one RBI, and scored twice for the Knights (24-1, 13-1). Hudson Summerrill had two hits, including a triple, three RBI, and scored a run. Jake Escalante had two hits, one RBI, three stolen bases, and scored twice. Cash Moran had a hit and scored twice.

Kane Humecky gave up two runs over four innings and earned the win.

Soquel hosts Harbor (15-11, 6-8) to close its regular season on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Santa Cruz 9, at Aptos 2 >> Caleb Cmaylo had three hits, two RBI, and scored a run in the Cardinals’ SCCAL win Tuesday.

Cameron Fusari had two hits, including a home run, and scored twice for the second-place Cardinals (14-11, 11-3). Damos Deworken had two hits, including a homer, and two RBI. Fernando DaCosta had a hit and scored twice.

Dom Castillo had a hit and two RBI for the fifth-place Mariners (10-15, 5-9).

Morgan Toohey gave up two runs, one earned, over 4 1/3 innings and earned the win. Cole McGillicuddy gave up seven runs, three earned, over three innings and took the loss.

Scotts Valley 12, at SLV 1 >> Pitchers Lukas Bloom and Nick Acton threw a combined one-hitter with eight strikeouts in the Falcons’ SCCAL win Tuesday. Bloom threw four innings and Acton threw three.

Clayton Pryor had three hits, two RBI, and scored twice for the third-place Falcons (11-14, 7-7), who secure the league’s final automatic berth to the upcoming CCS playoffs.

Bloom had three hits and three RBI. Owen Martin had one RBI and scored three runs. Isaac Martin had a hit and two RBI. Kit Deforest and Kaleb Wing each scored twice.

Jaden Shabry had the Cougars’ lone hit. Larrabee Mitchell drove in Marlon Braun.

Scotts Valley hosts SLV (3-22, 0-14) on Thursday in the teams’ SCCAL finale on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Palma 20, at St. Francis 5; 5 inn. >> Nash Horton doubled, homered, had two RBI, and scored twice in the Sharks’ Pacific Coast Athletic League Gabilan Division loss Tuesday.

Noah Magana had three hits, including a double, two RBI, and scored a run for the Sharks (13-13, 8-9). Jacob Fonseca and Mason Borrego each scored run.

Alan Gonzalez and Rocco Razzeca each homered for the Chieftains (19-6, 13-4).

Alan Gonzalez earned the win and Evan Dyer took the loss.

St. Francis closes the regular season at Carmel (16-9, 11-6) on Thursday at 4 p.m.

At North Salinas 5, Watsonville 1 >> The Wildcatz’s hopes of earning a share of the PCAL Mission Division title were dashed with their loss to the unbeaten Vikings on Tuesday.

Senior Rudy Valdez had the Wildcatz’s lone hit, two stolen bases, and run scored. Junior Mathew Silva drove him in.

Jake Burkhardt had two hits, one RBI, and a run scored for the Vikings. Preston Hobbs had two hits and scored twice, and Joshua Degroodt had two hits and scored a run.

Degroodt earned the complete-game win with 15 strikeouts. Kaden Ortiz struck out nine batters, but was tagged with the loss. He gave up seven hits, one walk, and one earned run while striking out nine batters over six innings.

Watsonville (11-13, 9-2) closes the regular season with a home game against North Salinas (18-5, 11-0) on Thursday at 5 p.m.

High school softball

At Scotts Valley 10, Soquel 3 >> Taylor Wilson had three hits, two RBI, two stolen bases, and scored three runs and the playoff-bound Falcons secured the SCCAL title outright on Tuesday.

Kylie Stern had two hits and two RBI for the Falcons (19-5-1, 12-1). Gracie Delgado doubled, had one RBI, and scored twice.

Lorelei Warner struck out four batters over three scoreless innings and earned the win.

On Thursday at 4:30 p.m., Scotts Valley hosts SLV (11-8, 9-4), while Soquel (3-11, 2-11) hosts Harbor (2-15, 1-13).

At Aptos 10, Harbor 0; 6 inn. >> Sophomore Mya Najera-White threw a no-hitter in the Mariners’ SCCAL win Tuesday. She struck out 14 batters and walked one.

Sophomore Emma Burgueno doubled, homered, and had four RBI for the second-place Mariners (14-7, 10-4). Senior Kailani Aguayo hit a solo home run. Senior Lilly McGee had three hits, one RBI, and scored a run. Senior Bailey Fulton had two hits and scored twice.

On Thursday at 4:30 p.m., Aptos hosts Santa Cruz (7-13, 5-6), and Harbor (2-15, 1-13) plays at Soquel (3-11, 2-11).

SLV 15, at Santa Cruz 1; 5 inn. >> Bailey Filice and Abi Krepelka threw a combined one-hitter in the Cougars’ SCCAL win Tuesday.

Sophia Sarmiento had three hits, one RBI, and scored three runs for the Cougars (11-8, 9-4). Krepelka had two hits, two RBI, and three runs scored. Filice had two hits, two RBI, and scored twice. Brooke Reed had two hits and three RBI, and Angie Fulkerson had two hits, one RBI, and scored twice. Elie Colby had two RBI and Grace Purtcher had two walks and scored twice.

Molly Pisciotta had the lone hit and run scored for the Cardinals.

Monte Vista Christian 17, at Pajaro Valley 1; 4 inn. >> Ava Alvarado homered, had two RBI, and scored four runs in the Mustangs’ PCAL non-division game Tuesday.

Gianna Johnson had two hits, two RBI, and scored three runs for the Mustangs (12-14, 4-11). Addie Boles doubled, had three RBI, and scored a run. Isabel Piccini had a hit, one RBI, and scored twice. Juliana Lopez and Samantha Bertoldi each scored twice.

Hemeria Delatorre doubled and drove in a run for the Grizzlies (7-12, 5-5). Elena Barron accounted for P.V.’s other hit.

On Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., MVC plays at Stevenson (5-14, 1-14), and Pajaro Valley plays at Santa Catalina.
