Farmers market celebrates anniversary
The Monterey Bay Farmers Markets, which includes the weekly Saturday market at Cabrillo College, is celebrating its 46th anniversary this month. In 2021, the 45th birthday event was canceled due to the pandemic, so this is the first time the market can celebrate. From 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, the Aptos farmers market will be open as usual with some special goodies: there will be free cake plus free eco-friendly mesh produce bags (while supplies last). Also, stop by the info table on the middle level if you want to purchase “Work-The-Farm” T-shirts and hats to support the market. In other news, in May the market launched a cookbook exchange, which they hope will be a popular place for customers to “share their favorite good-condition cookbooks and recipes with the community in a one-for-one exchange. Leave a cookbook and pick up a new one to try!” The exchange bookshelves are next to the info table. Visit montereybayfarmers.org.
