Trump’s deportation plan

In your editorial Nov. 24 about Trump’s deportation plans and how supposedly “ridiculous” they are, let’s look at some facts and take the emotion out of it. First off, let’s cut to the bottom line. Everyone that crossed the border without permission, is in fact, illegally in the U.S. and has broken our existing immigration laws. That is undeniable. Trump’s “figurative rhetoric” should be taken seriously as he will be attempting to follow the will of the people. Poll after poll has shown the majority of American citizens want illegals sent back to their home country. Your two examples of government overreach and abuse of power with the mandated COVID restrictions and the Japanese interment camps during WWII are both totally flawed and irrelevant in this argument. Both of those were dead wrong on one very important and apparently overlooked, common fact. Both were instituted against U.S. citizens, not people who have entered our country illegally.

Biden’s legacy doomed

Professor Fields on Nov. 22 really missed the mark on assessing the dismal legacy Joe Biden will leave. The primary determinants of the election have been stated to be inflation and immigration. Both emerged during the Biden years. The 20%-30% increase in cost of living is here to stay, and it will take years before the average household recovers. The estimated 11 million living here illegally is also a problem that will take time and money to solve. Those are Biden’s legacy. They weren’t accidents or oversights. They were intentional decisions based on the policies of his administration. Kamala Harris lost for lots of reasons, but a big one was that we didn’t want four more years of what we had just been through.

Schiff abusing the public

In Larry Wilson’s Nov. 24 column, Adam Schiff stated that “This president (Trump), given his track record, is going to abuse his power.” Not so long ago, Congressman Schiff repeatedly told the American public that he had seen evidence of Trump campaign collusion with the Russians “with my own eyes,” so-called “evidence” that never materialized. For this, he was censured by the House. If lying is abuse, it is more likely that this senator-elect, given his track record, is going to abuse his office over and over again.
