Jack Herman had 11 points as 12 different players scored for the Marin Catholic boys basketball team in a 59-33 victory against Novato on Tuesday night.
Herman also had five rebounds for MC (12-13, 5-2 MCAL), which moved back into a second-place tie with idle Branson. Archie Williams is also 5-2 and Terra Linda is 4-2.
MC closes the season against Tam on Thursday. Branson closes with TL on Wednesday. Archie Williams wraps up against league-leading Redwood on Thursday. TL has a date with San Rafael on Thursday night in addition to the game against Branson on Wednesday.
Lucas Rotem had nine points for MC while Joe Hammond had six points, three assists and three steals.
Novato (6-17, 0-7) was paced by Adir Echo with eight points and Dominic Scafani with seven.
• Grady Stewart scored 18 points and Dante Stallone added 15 as Archie Williams posted a 66-46 victory against Tam on Thursday. The Peregrine Falcons (17-6, 5-2) finish the season against Redwood (16-6, 6-1) on Thursday. Redwood secures the regular-season title with a win. Archie Williams could force a huge first-place logjam of two loss teams with a victory. Stewart also had six rebounds and five assists. Alex Hamblet had 10 points, six rebounds, and three blocks for Archie Williams. Tam (4-16, 1-6) was led by Porthos Oliveira with eight points.
• Both San Domenico’s boys and girls games against Lick-Wilmerding were postponed until Monday after the school experienced a power outage during Tuesday’s storm. The boys teams were tied for first place in the BCL West standings with matching 6-2 records. The San Domenico girls were one game ahead of Lick-Wilmerding for second place, also with a 6-2 mark.
• Marin Academy lost to University, 71-40, on Tuesday. The fifth-place Wildcats (9-15,1-7 BCL-West) are scheduled to face San Domenico on Friday.
Girls basketball
Abby Bartholo scored 15 points to lead San Marin to a 59-16 victory against San Rafael at Dominican University on Tuesday night. The Mustangs (19-6, 5-2) will likely finish third in the MCAL standings and close the season against Novato on Thursday. Quincy Dean scored 12 points for San Marin and Brianna Nottingham added 10 points.
• Marin Catholic (15-10, 6-1) appears headed for a second-place finish following a 56-14 win against Novato on Tuesday. MC sits a game behind first-place Redwood but the Giants hold the head-to-head tiebreaker. The Wildcats’ Izzy McFadden scored a game-high 17 points, while Simone Claxton added 12 points on four 3-pointers. Cece Biernat had eight points for Marin Catholic. Claire Hannan paced the Hornets (13-11, 2-5) with seven points.
• Tam used an 18-5 second-quarter run to gain some separation en route to a 48-40 win against Archie Williams on Tuesday night. Tula Peltz had a trio of 3-pointers as Tam closed the first half on a 14-0 run. Tam’s surge also featured a three-point play by Journi Williams and a bucket by Ayla Koch-Bergren. The Red-tailed Hawks (10-11, 4-3) jumped into fourth place in front of the Peregrine Falcons (15-9, 4-3) thanks to the head-to-head tiebreaker. Delphina Dong finished with seven points for the Falcons. Tam finishes the season against MC on Thursday while Archie Williams takes on Redwood.
• Marin Academy fell to league leader University, 79-36, Tuesday. The Wildcats (13-10, 4-5 BCL-West) sit in fourth place ahead of Friday’s showdown with second-place San Domenico.
