Gomber has not been exceptionally sharp in his first two starts of the season — he went into the fifth inning in each game — but he’s pitched well enough to help the Rockies notch two of their first three wins. In Friday’s home opener against Tampa Bay, Gomber allowed two runs on four hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. He did not get a decision in Colorado’s third game of the season, at Arizona on March 30. He was charged with four runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings. The lefty is 3-0 with a 5.50 ERA in seven career starts against the D-backs.
The Rockies beat Henry at Chase Field in the third game of the season, scoring five runs on six hits over four innings. The big blow was shortstop Ezequiel Tovar’s two-run homer in the second. In his two career starts at Coors Field, Henry is 2-0 with a 5.91 ERA. In four career starts vs. Colorado, he’s 3-1 with a 4.98 ERA. He’s gotten a ton of run support in those four games, with the D-backs outscoring the Rockies 28-17.
