The rapper Offset, a former member of the influential hip-hop trio Migos, was shot outside a Florida casino and was in stable condition, a spokesperson said Tuesday.
Offset, who was once married to Cardi B, was being treated at a hospital after Monday night’s shooting, the spokesperson said in a statement, although his exact condition was unknown. Police said the injuries were not life-threatening.
Monday’s shooting followed a fight at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, just north of Miami, police said. Officers detained two people.
A rapper known as Lil Tjay, aka Tione Jayden Merritt, was arrested for the altercation that occurred before the shooting, the Seminole Police Department in Florida said. He was charged with disorderly conduct and operating a vehicle without a valid license.
His lawyer, Dawn M. Florio, told The Associated Press that Lil Tjay did not have a gun and was not charged with any weapons or gun-related crimes.
Citing antisemitism, UK bars Ye; fest is canceled
The rapper formerly known as Kanye West was barred Tuesday from entering the U.K., where he was scheduled to headline the Wireless Festival in July, after a backlash over Ye’s history of antisemitic remarks. Festival organizers canceled the three-day outdoor event as a result of the travel ban and said those who had bought tickets would get refunds.
Ye applied for an electronic travel authorization to visit the U.K., but it was blocked by the government on the grounds that his presence in the country would not be “conducive to the public good.”
Last year, Ye released a song called “Heil Hitler” and advertised a swastika T-shirt for sale on his website.
The 48-year-old apologized in January with a letter, published as a full-page advertisement in The Wall Street Journal.
Lil Nas X enters mental health diversion program
A judge has allowed Lil Nas X to enter a mental health diversion program intended to lead to the dismissal of charges of attacking Los Angeles police officers.
Judge Alan Schneider told the “Old Town Road” rapper and singer Monday that if he sticks to his treatment program and obeys all laws for two years, his four felony counts will be dismissed.
Authorities allege that the 26-year-old was walking naked down a street in the San Fernando Valley in August, then charged at police officers who were responding to calls about him. A criminal complaint says three officers were hurt. Video apparently shot before the confrontation showed him walking in briefs and boots.
