Cole Greene scored the game’s only goal as the Terra Linda High boys soccer team earned three massive points with a 1-0 win against Redwood on Wednesday.

Diego Santizo lofted a free kick into the box in the 25th minute and Greene headed it home to put the Trojans (5-3-1, 3-0-0 MCAL) in front. TL remains in first place alone on nine points and hosts Archie Williams in a big game next Tuesday. Redwood (3-2-3, 1-1-1) is one of four teams all tied for second place on four points.

• Kian Cavaney and Ivan Gomez scored to lift San Marin to its first league win of the season, 2-1 against Branson on Wednesday. Dylan Crafter had an assist for the Mustangs (5-3-3, 1-1-1).Charley Lightfoot scored the goal for Branson (2-5-4, 0-2-1), assisted by Kai Mekonnen.

• Noah Pederson scored on an assist from Devin Perkins as Tam (4-3-3, 1-1-1) battled Novato (0-4-1, 0-2-1) to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday. Christian Carrato scored for the Hornets, assisted by Ben DePalma.

• Marin Catholic (5-4-3, 0-0-3) picked up its third consecutive draw to open league play, battling San Rafael (3-6-3, 0-1-1) to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday.

• Soren Fernandez and River Jones found the back of the net to lead Marin Academy to a 2-1 victory against Urban on Tuesday. Brady Stewart had an assist for MA (3-3-3, 3-0-0 BCL West).

• San Domenico (2-3-1, 0-2-0 BCL West) lost 4-0 to Lick-Wilmerding on Tuesday.

Girls soccer

Sloane Carey netted a hat trick as Marin Catholic surged to a 6-1 victory against San Marin (2-5-0, 0-2-0) on Tuesday night. MC (6-2-2, 2-0-0) is alone in first place on six points. Carey also added an assist. Ellie Seymore, Alina Franchetti, and Ava Korich had the other goals for MC. Savannah Browne, Zoe Jenkins, Lexi Ferguson, and Korich had assists.

• Reese Goodenough assisted the first two goals then scored the third for Marin Academy in a 4-1 victory against Urban on Tuesday. Goodenough set up scores by Addie Leary and Raya Leikin inside the first three minutes as MA (8-1-1, 3-0-0 BCL West) raced out to a 2-0 lead. Kacy Walker assisted Goodenough in the 32nd minute as MA led 3-0 at the half. Leikin scored her second goal of the game early in the second half for a 4-0 lead.

• San Domenico (2-3-2, 0-2-1 BCL West) dropped a 3-0 game against Lick-Wilmerding on Tuesday. The loss was the third in a row for the Panthers who had strung four consecutive games without a defeat together to start the season.

Girls basketball

Marin Catholic held off a hard-charging San Marin squad, 55-48, on Tuesday. Brooke Spagnuolo (23 points) and Izzy McFadden (21 points) contributed the bulk of the scoring for the Wildcats (10-7, 2-0 MCAL). Cecelia Biernat added six points. The Mustangs fall to 13-5, 1-1 in league after back-to-back losses.

• Amelia Thomas and Penelope Lee helped power Marin Academy pasth Urban, 36-21, in a BCL West matchup on Tuesday. The Wildcats (9-6, 1-1 BCL) are scheduled to play Convent on Friday. Thomas scored a game-high 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds and four assists, while Lee added nine points. Serling Colpitts added four points, eight rebounds and three blocks in a solid defensive effort.

Boys basketball

After the two teams split a pair of non-league matchups during tournament play in December, Marin Catholic won the tiebreaker game against San Marin, 59-55, on Tuesday. Oliver Myers led the Wildcats (9-10, 2-0 MCAL) with 17 points and three steals, while Joe Hammond had 13 points and four steals. Chase Merrick had six points and nine rebounds, while Henry Dibble had six points and eight rebounds for Marin Catholic

Senior Rio Seiler led the Mustangs (9-7, 1-1 MCAL) with 23 points and Grant Means added 14.

• Redwood (10-4, 2-0 MCAL) stretched its win streak to seven games with Tuesday’s 68-33 victory over San Rafael (13-5, 0-1 MCAL). Simon Leonard led the Giants with 15 points, while Semetri Carr, Noah Tanaka and Harry White each finished with 11, and Brennan Woodley added eight points.

• San Domenico fell 63-52 to host University in a BCL showdown Tuesday. The Panthers (12-5, 2-1 BCL) are scheduled to play Urban on Friday.

• Marin Academy lost 58-47 to Urban at home on Tuesday. The Wildcats (8-9, 0-2 BCL) are scheduled to play Stuart Hall on Friday.

• The Branson School got the better of Archie Williams 56-49 in a hotly contested MCAL matchup on Monday at College of Marin. Junior Chase Robertson scored a team-high 21 points and sophomore NJ Gray racked up 17 points for the Bulls (9-8, 1-1). The Falcons (10-6, 0-2) were led by James Butler’s 14 points, while Dante Stallone had eight rebounds.
