The Colorado football team announced the late signing of a high school recruit Monday.

Kyle Carpenter, a cornerback from Buford (Ga.) High School, has signed with the Buffs.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Carpenter committed to CU more than a week ago, but his signing was announced Monday.

At Buford, one of the top high school teams in the country, Carpenter played receiver and defensive back in a backup role. Last year he caught nine passes for 142 yards and a touchdown, while recording three tackles on defense. He was teammates with current CU linebacker Mantrez Walker.

Prior to his opportunity from CU, Carpenter was committed to Los Angeles Valley College. Carpenter also played basketball at Buford.

With the addition of Carpenter, head coach Deion Sanders’ squad now has 79 scholarship players for the 2025 season.
