HENDERSON, Nev. >> Las Vegas Raiders coach Antonio Pierce hasn’t ruled out defensive end Maxx Crosby, who missed his first career game last weekend, for Sunday’s game at Denver.

Crosby, who didn’t play in last Sunday’s 20-16 victory over the Cleveland Browns because of a high-ankle sprain, went through a limited practice Friday.

There is an increasing chance running back Alexander Mattison will start against the Broncos. Usual starter Zamir White isn’t expected to play because of a groin injury.

Pierce said Monday that Mattison was in line for more carries anyway after he rushed for 60 yards on five carries against the Browns. White is off to a slow start with 3.1 yards per carry compared to Mattison’s 5.1.

Rookie Tommy Eichenberg, drafted in the fifth round out of Ohio State, will make his first start with fellow linebackers Divine Deablo (oblique) and Luke Masterson (knee) out.

Giants’ Nabers to miss game at Seattle>> The NFL’s leading receiver in the Giants’ Malik Nabers will miss his team’s game at Seattle due to a concussion. Coach Brian Daboll announced on Friday that Nabers will sit out.

Nabers sustained the concussion in the fourth quarter of the Giants loss to Dallas on Sept. 26. Daboll said Nabers has made progress, but not enough to join the team when they play the Seahawks on Sunday.

Nabers is a first-round pick out of LSU who has 35 catches to lead the league. Second-year wideout Jalin Hyatt could see more playing time in Nabers’ absence.

Preseason saw fewest concussions since tracking started>> The NFL saw its fewest number of concussions in the preseason since tracking started in 2015. There were 44 concussions in practices and games, a decrease of about 24% from last year.

The league’s revamped kickoff rule led to fewer injuries overall but there were some concussions on the play. Nearly 99% of players wore top-performing helmets, including more than 250 players wearing helmets that the league says provide as much protection as a helmet paired with a Guardian Cap.

Bills’ Shakir, Johnson and Rapp ruled out against Texans>> The Bills are already missing suspended pass rusher Von Miller. Now, they will face the Texans on Sunday without leading receiver Khalil Shakir, Austin Johnson at defensive tackle and Taylor Rapp at safety.

The Bills announced Friday that Shakir, Johnson and Rapp would join Miller on the sidelines when they face the Texans. Miller was suspended four games for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

Shakir, who has 18 catches for 230 yards and two touchdowns, is out with an ankle injury. Johnson is out with an oblique injury while Rapp is out with a concussion.
