Jonathan Heger is Berkley’s newest school board member.

After interviews with three candidates and discussion, Heger was selected by the school board at its Sept. 26 special meeting.

The position became vacant after Trustee Ron Justice resigned before his term ended Dec. 31, 2024. Justice served as a trustee for the last 13 years and moved out of the district in September. Heger will finish Justice’s term.

Heger is a purchasing manager for Ford and a 16-year resident of Berkley. He is active in the district and community, including as founder of the Pattengill Dad’s Club and chairing the committee advocating for the 2023 school district bond, which passed..

“The board is pleased to welcome Jon Heger to the Board of Education,” said board President Roger Blake in a press release. “His commitment to the Berkley school district will certainly be an asset to the board and the community. We commend his willingness to serve for a three-month term.”
