There will be no Stephen Curry vs. Sabrina Ionescu rematch at All-Star weekend.

The NBA announced Thursday that the 3-point shooting event bringing together two of the biggest stars in the NBA and WNBA — which was one of the highlights of last year’s All-Star weekend in Indianapolis — is not going to be part of the lineup in San Francisco.

Talks went on for weeks to try to make it happen, even stretching into All-Star week itself. It seemed more than logical that a rematch would occur; All-Star weekend is on Curry’s home floor this weekend and Ionescu — who plays for the WNBA champion New York Liberty — is a Bay Area native who grew up watching Curry and the Golden State Warriors.

Curry was on record saying he wanted the rematch to occur, and there were talks of making it a 2-on-2 format this year — potentially involving Klay Thompson, Curry’s former Warriors teammate, and reigning WNBA rookie of the year Caitlin Clark.

Jets announce they’ve MOVED ON FROM Rodgers >> Aaron Rodgers’ disappointing two-year stint with the New York Jets is over. And the team’s only Super Bowl trophy is still standing by itself.

The Jets announced they told the 41-year-old quarterback they are moving on without him next season.

While Rodgers hasn’t said whether he intends to continue playing for a 21st NFL season, the Jets — with new general manager Darren Mougey and coach Aaron Glenn in charge — have officially ruled out a return to New York.

The four-time MVP, who’s the fifth player in NFL history to throw 500 touchdown passes in the regular season, has one year left on his contract, worth a non-guaranteed $37.5 million.

The team announced the deal with Fultz on Wednesday night as the Kings seek more depth at point guard after recently trading away star De’Aaron Fox.

Fultz was drafted first overall by Philadelphia in 2017. He has played 234 career games with the 76ers and Orlando, averaging 11.1 points, 4.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game.

Fultz last played in the 2023-24 season for the Magic.

Bregman and Red Sox agree to $120M, 3-year contract >> Alex Bregman and the Boston Red Sox have agreed to a $120 million, three-year contract, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press on Wednesday night.

The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the agreement was subject to a successful physical.

Bregman can opt out after the 2025 and 2026 seasons to become a free agent again. He is likely to shift from third base to second with the Red Sox, who already have All-Star slugger Rafael Devers at the hot corner.

A two-time All-Star and two-time World Series champion during nine years with Houston, the 30-year-old Bregman is coming off one of his poorest offensive seasons. He hit .260 with 26 homers and 75 RBIs in the final season of a $100 million, five-year contract, also winning his first Gold Glove.

Kershaw finalizes $7.5M 1-year deal to stay with Dodgers >> Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers finalized a $7.5 million, one-year contract, bringing back the three-time Cy Young Award winner for his 18th big league season.

The 36-year-old left-hander expects to go on the 60-day injured list following offseason foot and knee surgery, but hopes to be close to ready when eligible to be activated, He’s been working out at Camelback Ranch, playing long toss and running after spending much of the offseason on crutches or in a walking boot.

Kershaw’s 18th season with the Dodgers would tie him with Zack Wheat and Bill Russell for the most in franchise history. The 10-time All-Star is coming off an injury-interrupted 2024 season in which went 2-2 record with a 4.50 ERA in seven starts, striking out 24 in 30 innings.

New top-tier men’s soccer league coming to the US >> The United Soccer League intends to launch a new men’s professional league in 2027-28 that will play at the top level of soccer in the U.S., the same as Major League Soccer.

The USL already has a pair of leagues, the second-tier USL Championship and the third-tier USL League One. Currently, MLS is the nation’s only Division One league.

The U.S. Soccer Federation will need to sanction the new league, which will include 12 to 14 teams. The league aims to build on “USL’s commitment to grow the game at all levels.”

The USL said the new league would establish a “fully integrated pathway” for clubs and players across the three divisions.
