An East Chicago man faces up to 20 years for separate shootings that wounded his ex-wife and her brother.
Andres Perez, 46, admitted to two counts of aggravated battery.
A sentencing hearing is not yet scheduled. His next court date is March 26.
He was charged with attempted murder and other charges in July 2022 for allegedly shooting his wife’s brother in the arm after the man slashed his tires for abusing her.
In October 2022, Perez was charged in another attempted murder case after allegedly pulling up and firing at his estranged wife on the Borman Expressway, wounding her in the foot.
Judge Samuel Cappas would have to review and accept the latest deal. Court records show Cappas rejected Perez’s initial plea deal last year calling for a 16-year prison sentence.
The male victim said he was strongly opposed to it.
Deputy Prosecutor Infinity Westburg and defense lawyers Ken Elwood and Russell Brown are assigned.
