Repeat Thefts Arrest: In late December 2024, an officer took a report from one of the businesses related to shoplifting. Through the investigation, it was discovered the suspect was 34-year-old Marco Medina of Woodland. The investigating officer checked Medina’s prior arrests and determined he had multiple theft-related convictions. On Jan. 9 at around 12:05 a.m., on the 2100 block of Bronze Star Drive, Medina was contacted and arrested for shoplifting, thefts with prior convictions, and conspiracy.

Firearm Arrest: On Jan. 13 at around 11:36 p.m., a Woodland Police Officer conducted a vehicle stop on Beamer and Second Street for driving without taillamps on. During the investigation, K9 Loki assisted and alerted to a target odor inside the vehicle. The occupants were detained, and an unregistered firearm was in the rear passenger area. One of the occupants, 20-year-old Pablo Melendrez-Lopez of Woodland, was arrested and booked at the Yolo County Jail for several firearms-related charges.

Firearm Arrest: On Jan. 14 at 3:27 p.m., Woodland Police officers responded to the area near East and North Street, where a person was threatened with a firearm. Within minutes, officers found a person matching the description nearby. The suspect, 19-year-old Javier Gonzales of Woodland, ran from officers but was safely taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. He was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm, which was not registered. Gonzales was arrested and booked at the Yolo County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, a variety of firearms charges, and a local warrant for his arrest.

HOST made 73 contacts and offered services to 31 individuals; eight accepted services. HOST tagged 13 camps and cleaned up 11. HOST conducted 11 downtown patrols.

HOST has actively worked with an unhoused community member who has had a volatile relationship with law enforcement and been resource resistant. Over the past few months, HOST has noticed a significant decline in his physical health. Last week, after persistence from one of the HOST officers, the community member accepted services and allowed HOST to get him on his way to medical treatment and recovery.
