SAN JOSE >> Half a dozen men and a pair of teenage boys have been arrested in connection with a range of violent crimes over the past year in San Jose, according to authorities.

The incidents — which included assault with a deadly weapon, carjacking and robbery — happened between November 2023 and September of this year, San Jose police Officer Tanya Hernandez said in a news release.

An investigation revealed the crimes were gang-related or motivated, Hernandez said. She added that the suspects targeted rival gang members and residents of the Loma Verde and Cadillac-Winchester neighborhoods.

Detectives identified the eight suspects and arrested them on warrants between Oct. 15 and Oct. 17. They are all residents of San Jose and range in age from 16 to 26 years old.

Search warrants were also served at their homes. Hernandez said detectives seized a fully automatic submachine gun, ammunition and evidence related to the crimes.

The men were booked into Santa Clara County jail and the boys into juvenile hall on charges related to various felonies, Hernandez said.
