The City of Monterey will host a town hall this week, to inform the public on what to do during a wildfire, how fire departments are taking steps to mitigate future incidents and to answer the public’s questions.
Residents of Monterey, Pacific Grove and Carmel are encouraged to attend the Wildfire Ready Monterey town hall event, taking place Thursday, Feb. 27 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Monterey Conference Center Serra Ballroom, 1 Portola Plaza.
There will be a panel discussion featuring wildfire experts, an exhibit hall, breakout sessions, as well as pizza and refreshments for attendees.
The event is free and includes validated parking in the Downtown East and West parking garages.
Officials from the Monterey Fire Department, Police Forestry and Building Safety will be in attendance. PG&E, Cal Am Water, Cal Fire, the Fire Safe Council and several more agencies will also be at the event.
The public will be able to ask about what the different agencies are doing to reduce fire risk and how to prepare for wildfires.
The panel discussion will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., moderated by Assistant City Manager Nat Rojanasathira.
Questions can be submitted to the panelists at monterey.gov/fire.
